My Feelings about Ohio State & Rememberring the punch!

DJHorn

Newbie
Okay guys, great game last weekend. Altho I didn't attend the game, I have lurked around the boards and have heard the horror stories *add nauseum* and what I say to this is that this was a huge night game and for the folks from Texas that attended - thanks for the support. You guys are troopers. I also want to say that if I attended I would've expected pretty much the same. The Buckeyes are pretty dang proud much like us down here in Texas so I suspect some of our assholes will return the favor. It's just the way it is...That's all I'll say about that. :!

That said, my feelings about OHIO state haven't changed a bit. I really like your team dating far back into the Woody days. I remember as a kid looking at a Ohio State/ Michigan game wondering what all the hype was about. When I was 9, the only player that I thought was the best player around was Earl Campbell. And then the game with Clemson I believe it was...I actually remember what I was doing when Woody threw the infamous punch. My dad and I were watching the game and I believe a Clemson guy broke free where then Woody (the 12th man) proceeded to punch the poor fellow in the gut. I was floored. My Dad was like, "you see that son - the Ohio State coach is a winner and cannot accept defeat." I gave him this look. I was like, "you know DAD - I think the defense missed too many tackles." I played pop Warner football so I'm thinking to myself boy I bet he's gonna run his team at practice the following day. It's just weird that I remember that night with my dad so many years ago. Ask me what I did last week, I would really have to think about it.

So to wrap up...I believe we are almost identical in how we care about football. Good luck the rest of the way. We both have to take care of business. I just don't see any other teams that match up with both of us. Hope to see you again this year at a later time. You know when...

Hook those sooners. I've hated them ever since the 03 season, and they've only given me more fuel every year (stoops complaint about the media bias - despite being overrated both years - has to take the cake for me).

Actually I would disagree there. While I also dislike Oklahoma, and could care less about their fight song. It would have to go, Michigan, Notre Dame, and TENNESSEE. Frickin Rockytop gets played after every huddle break.

Anyway, hell of a thread here. Hope you guys win em all, and if we dont see you in the Rose, make sure you smack the shit out of SC for us.

Despite all the back and forth before this past game, I've always rooted for Texas in their big rivalry games. I seem to lean towards one team in each of the other conferences, and Texas was the team in the old SWC.

I always pulled for them when they played A&M.

In the old Big 8, I always hated the Sooners (must be something to do with not being able to stomach Barry Switzer) and rooted for Nebraska in their rivalry.

The Red River Shootout was always a no-brainer. My favorite SWC team against my most despised Big 8 team: Texas all the way. The fact that they're all in the Big XII now doesn't change a thing.

Right back atcha... that was some darn good football we saw last week, and I can't wait for more of it.

BTW, did anyone else see "DJHorn" on the posts list and think Donny had switched teams?

Oklahoma is Texas's Meatchicken - a few similarities

OU gets most of their good/great players from Tx, you know about scUM.

Both OSU & Tx have or had problems with sucess against their rival.

The media love both OU & scUM.

I'm sure there are many others, just to lazy right now. :drunks:

The similarities are eerie if you think about it:

Both schools are the two largest schools in the nation, with the two largest athletic programs. Both Austin and Columbus are state capitals without any major professional sports to interfere with college football. Both schools are rivals with teams from a state up north.

The list goes on...
