Eddie shouldn't be there over Orlando Pace. Pace was the better player (frankly, not even close - Pace may be the best OL ever in college football; Eddie isn't even top 10 in RBs) and was the main reason Eddie had as good of a career as he did.
Couldn;t the same be said for Archie? Wasn;t he just as much a product of his o-line and fullback?? I wasn;t around then, but I've heard once he left for the NFL and w/o the Woody Hayes system, O-line, and a dominate lead blocker.. he didn;t fare so well.

Pete Johnson was to Archie what OP was to Eddie.. and John Hicks was around then too if i'm not mistaken. All 3 Heisman contendors? maybe hicks was in another era

All points are great . I can't believe I haven't remembered Hicks in here. What an awesome lineman he was.

All Rb's need good lineman and what you say is certainly true. Just remember that they each had their own style and Archie could really make players miss him where Eddie was more of a power runner , not as quick or shifty. I wouldn't trade either one of them.

well, first of all, I could care less about any of these players pro careers. Griffin is the only 2 time winner of the Heisman and therefore he belongs.

Frankly, I dont' think Eddie deserved to have his number retired. he won the Heisman...but that doesn't make him a better player than Tatum, Pace, Hicks, etc. etc.

I'm not going to be restricted by May's football only demand.

If you cannot have Owens on a Buckeye Memorial of the 4 most influential athletic / football Buckeyes then, as far as I am concerned, raze the damned mountain.

That said.
Harley, Owens, Hayes, Griffin

I mean, ask yourself, if Owens were a young kid coming up today do you really believe he wouldn't don S&G for JT? I think he would - and get the medals to boot - hopefully under the noses of the Chinese in Beijing.

this is the way i see it. i call it the shoe, but i know it as the house that harley built. people may garner more awards, more trophies, or better careers. but i can't imagine anyone making a bigger contribution than the shoe. tressel could win 10 nc's in 10 straight years and not top that. it can't be done, not in my lifetime. maybe someone will begin a works that in a 100 years could compair. but it isn't likely.

1. chic harley
2. woody
3. archie
4. tressel
