IronBuckI;1161115; said:Not to get too far off track from the purpose of this thread but...the DDN had a story (DDN Story) a week or two ago about Springboro and it's proposed six levies over the next seven years...and they're not small levies either. A few of the engineers that I work with are super fuckin' pissed. Many of them have kids that either go to Springboro or are very close to being old enough to go to school, and they don't care for what the administration is trying to pull.
Unless there is a re-organization at the top, I would stay away from Springboro for now.

Huber Heights isn't ideal. That's where I moved from. Schools suck, and it's going to take a long time to fix their problems.Lockup;1161296; said:We keep pretty much hearing Oakwood, Centerville and Beavercreek.
Another one on the north side was Huber Heights. Any thoughts on that one?
cincibuck;1161308; said:I've been out of Dayton for quite some time, actually since I left for OSU in the fall of 61. Huber Heights was built in the mid 50s to mid 60s. Track houses, all ranch, few with basements. Kind of where all the WWII GIs spent their first housing dollar. The Levitttown of Dayton. Beavercreek used to be that way, but evidently much has changed.
Don't know what the knock is on Kettering aside from the fact that they no longer are the premier sports power in the area as they were in the 60s. It's still very close to WPAFB and with a good road net to get you there. Academically still a fine system.
My then girl friend from those days lived in Oakwood and I had several frat brothers from there also. Which side of Far Hills Blvd you live on is very important in the social circle, but it's a nice sized school system that regularly sends kids off to the Ivies.

DaytonBuck;1161318; said:I would challenge the fact that Kettering's school system is fine.
Kettering west of Far Hills is nice, anything else you'd better off saving your money and living in Belmont
Folanator;1161340; said:It has the highest % of brick houses in the country. I guess it would be a good place for a tornado?
Just trying to help.
cincibuck;1161410; said:Nope, then you'd be in Dayton Public and I know chaos when I see it.
What's happened to Kettering schools? I'm still in touch with some teachers from there and haven't heard aything negative from them, but then I haven't asked.
