Most Talented College RB This Decade

True true, I suppose that description would be a top talent this decade, although I have a hard time putting him over Peterson. Anyway he was obviously talented, just too bad we never got to see it past the frosh year.

Also, the 18 TDs in 8 (or 9?) games is obviously great. If he had stayed heathly that year, he would've gotten 1,800yds and 25 TDs probably with 3 or so receiving. That was the one knock I had on Peterson. He ran for 1,900yds his frosh year and only scored 15 times.

Also, I Clarett was a pretty big kid. Wasn't he 5'11 or 6'0 and 230?

He did have a Herschel Walker like season. 1,200 yards, 18 touchdowns(astounding # for how much playing time he missed), and the first 14-0 season in D-1A history, giving tOSU its first NC in 30+ years.

You can go ahead and chalk up at least three more TD's to that total. I watched Mo C run all the way down the field only to have JT give the two yard TD's to Lydell.

Seriously, if there were ever a natural RB, it was Mo. I really think some of you are forgetting what that dude was. His talent was never the fucking problem. The kid was flat out fucking amazing with the ball in his hands. He was a leader on a team full of them.

Seriously, the strip of Sean Taylor? The wheel route against TSUN? The run against WSU where the dude went low and BOUNCED off of Mo's fucking thigh? How the fuck can he NOT be mentioned up there as far as talent is concerened.

Oh, and NextBuck..."He probably could've been tOSU's best RB ever"...."He's in the #5-#8 range"...if we're discussing talent alone...then those two statements don't belong anywhere near each other. If someone has the talent to have possibly been in the discussion for best tOSU RB ever, then they sure as shit deserve to be in at least the top three of their fuckin' decade.

I guess we all need something of a reminder...

The kid was an animal, and I remember every second of watching that season with my father. He's been a Buckeye fan his whole life and I've never seen his face light up like that until MoC had the ball.

Of course that changed with Troy :wink2:

Man he's faster than I remember. I mean, he's not Peterson fast, but for being 5'11 and 230, he's plenty fast, just a step or so slower than Wells. And with his moves and vision he didn't need blazing speed. Really a shame. Thanks for that video its a great reminder of his talent. I'd have to say he pushes into my top 3 or so. No doubt he would've broken the single season rushing record and some TD records had he stayed sane/healthy.

Not really. Best and talent obviously dont equal the same thing first off, and secondly when the other Top 3 are Bush (heisman winner), Peterson (could end up being the best pro RB ever), and McFadden (stud in his own right) then yeah there is no problem with me bumping him out of the Top 3.

He COULD HAVE been the best ever for OSU, and talent wise he is in my opinion, but production wise/the way he carried himself/etc I would have him probably 4th behind Archie, George, and Wells. I think MoC is more talented than Wells on this "talent" list, but when it comes to overall careers I give the edge to Wells.

I mean if we just want to go off who I thought were the best runningbacks this decade then my list is completely different. Hell Archie is a Top 5 back all-time in my eyes, but is he a Top 5 RB talent I would say no.

I gotta be honest, this topic is getting confusing now. With the fact we have to balance production and talent from players who played 1 year to guys we got to see for 3-4 years.

MoC talent wise is Number 5 on my list behind Bush, McFadden, Peterson, and Stewart. If MoC would have stayed for 3 years he probably would be the third best runningback (not talking talent just production) beind Bush and Peterson. Maybe higher but we'll never know

I agree there is no doubt he probably would have pushed 2,000 yards his sophomore and junior year.

It's pretty hard to give someone the nod over guys who played 3-4 years or good football. I think you could plug and play with Wells and have similar success for one year. I don't think MC would have won ohio state another national title without that defense(02) in Wells place.

derrrr. The defense may have been the dominant force in 02' however you still have to score points. And while it may not have been pretty, the offense always answered the call at the time of need.

Better chance at wells winning a national title with that team, then Moc winning one with one of wells..At least you get a selection with Wells.Krenzel>TB

Why is it so hard? There's no award being handed out. No one is getting snubbed. It doesn't take three or four years to recognize talent. I saw plenty of it in eight games.

The title of your thread clearly says "Most Talented College RB This Decade". Not best.
