I don't listen to popular radio for that exact reason, but you can't avoid it altogether...

Nickleback, 3 Doors Down, Chevelle, and all of the other bands that sound just like them.
Boy bands, or any of their by-products such as Justin Timber-fuck
Thugs masquerading as "musicians", (c)rap

Very easily, if they play it on the radio, I dont want it on cd :)

I seem to follow the same bands alot. And by listening to them, I run into newer bands that are similar/associated. Like I have been a big slipknot fan, and along the way, I ran into mudvayne, have become huge fans of theirs as well.
