Mo had a white hot focus on him before he even stepped on campus. We were excited about Lydell. Sincerely. For Mo to come in and START at RUNNING BACK at tOSU as a TRUE FROSH...did not think I'd see that. Hadn't won a title in 34 years. Hadn't won The Game with shit on the line in good while. Coming off the win in AA meant we were gonna fuck this one up.

Opening game vs TT.
Playing hurt.
In-season surgery

The wheel route.
The strip.

I adore JJ.

Mo was a once in a lifetime freshman, and that team was pure willpower and destiny (and a metric shit ton of underrated talent)

Kinda how I see it, we never saw this year's O without JS but there were enough playmakers where I think they still could've put points up.

Lose Clarett for a few games and the 02 offense looked damn near incompetent.
We beat Texas with Smith only getting one touch. A lot of the other receivers production did come from Texas paying too much attention to Smith. How would that game been different if Smith wasn't in the game? We will never know.

I know this dates me, but, who cares. Given that circa 1968 or so, freshmen were ineligible to play varsity, I submit that the 1968 'Super Sophs' deserve to be recognized as the best first-year players of Buckeye History. They would beat the varsity in scrimmages, and when they became eligible, they won the National Championship. About eleven or more of them started, and shone, in S&G. Don't believe the pundits even ranked recruiting classes in those days, But Rex, Zelina, Hayden, the Assassin, etc were all great that year. (yeah, I know I've forgotten some names).

We'll have to check with Michigan to see if they still have any of the practice films from '67.
