And so they are continuing today internationally. Oh yeah, OSU looked good against Ok State, but boy the problems aren't done there yet, we'll get to the really serious news in a second, but first OSU played in a bowl.

When they rehashed the MoC driving a new car every week, fully knowing that this is not true, I could not believe that even ESPiN would stoop to such miserably low levels of journalism.

OSU should refuse in the future to have any interviews with them but grant an interview with someone else every time they ask. GameDay? Let them hold it in Montana! Get them out of the Big Ten broadcasting now!

Bucklion said:
I can't believe they ruined the last drive of the half, which could have been important, rehashing the same old shit that everyone already knew. But of course, it's worthy to cover on both halftimes, the entire second quarter of the game, lead on Sportscenter (they almost mentioned the outcome of the game), and have a Doogie Howser wannabe OTL exposition, all in the same night.

But then, ESPN has absolutely nothing to gain by going after Ohio State at all, right?

Does ESPN even hava a clue? They dog OSU over the booster stuff and ND over coaching/playing without a thought about the incredible fan base the two schools have.

OUTSIDERS VIEW!

First off as in ND's case a few years ago this so-called booster did not even go to OSU! He was lectured about giving benfeits to players and still did it! OSU cant babysit these guys 24/7

Your QB was lectured as well and was suspended (for a bowl game mind you not some game against Middle Tenn. State or somebody like that next year)
and the whole thing was brought out.

Geiger, Tressel owned up to it! It happens, they took care of it and most every school has had an issue from time to time....

Clarett- Who knew how he would turn out! Every school has guys that have an ax to grind! IE. The Tarnished Dome is basically written about love letters ND from those types of former players

OSU has had the misfortune of having these things happen in a short time period that is the difference here!

Bottom line -OSU IS GETTING RIPPED FOR THE THINGS THAT EVERY SHCOOL HAS BEEN THRU!

ESPIN Blows

I turn on epsin radio this AM to listen to Mike & Mike (being filled in by salsdingleburry and EK). All they can talk about his how corrupt the OSU program is getting, nothing along the lines of "congratulations for being able to put all of this aside and kick the pokes ass" i'm going to send them email's all day long and would love some BP support... At this point, we don't have a leg to stand on. All the previous allegations had no substance. This one does ! Hopefully this can be the end of all the garbage and we can concentrate on next year.

ESPN DOES suck. They are still trying to validate themselves by pumping up stories and then reporting on their own stories... it's just them talking about themselves. I would put them a couple of notches on the respectability scale below Entertainment Tonight.

I made the mistake of watching their halftime show. What a drag. All halftime and also DURING the game (after it turned into a blowout) they spent a lot of time on CAMERA even, talking about Ohio State's troubles... and Mark May saying Geiger and Tressel both will probably pay for this with their jobs if they don't make some big changes.

Geiger is okay, but we would get by without him. and I would think he is about sick of all this. I predict, after he gets OSU through all this crap, he will resign and go do something easy like ride shotgun on fuel convoys in Baghdad.

As for Tressel, I say there is no way he can go or should go. He is The Man and the savior of this program. It is like night and day since they got rid of Cooper and brought in JT. If Ohio State ever pushes him out I WILL stop rooting for the Buckeyes!

Tressel forever!

The only problem that I currently have with ESPN, is that this story broke a week ago. They tried to break their own story before the scUm game, and shot their wad too early. Now, tOSU reports some problems a week before the bowl game, and these fucks sit on it, until they have a tOSU game to bash us on.

Oh yeah, Mark May is a rim jobbing ass clown.

Tirico defending us on ESPN radio

Mike Tirico was just on Mike & Mike. He was asked whether he believed tOSU will fire AG or JT over this. He responded by saying he believes AG and JT do everything they can to prevent this. He went on to say he thought Trev/May's rants last nite were the " the worst things" he 's heard them say. He thought those two were completely wrong to say AG or JT should be fired. It's nice to see someone sticking up for us.

anybody watching the post game last night (i had to switch over to espnnews) saw the same thing. i dont care what the reason for it was (maybe he meant it, maybe he saw the chance to be the good guy, maybe espin needed a good cop to their bad cop and told him what to say......) im just glad it was said.

Sad thing is that much of the stuff is coming out at the same time, within a span of a couple of months, but there are years between when some of it happened.

MoC was in 2002. Smith was in Spring 2004, I think. Dukes was before he set foot on campus in 2004. OBrien was in 1998 or something like that. But all of it is coming to a head in the perfect storm here, without us having the chance to right the ship by putting things in place to prevent it.

I have complete confidence Geiger and Tressel will get it right. Unfortunately, perception may be far different from reality due to ESPN.

And, BTW, I only saw the stuff during the game. I didn't see the halftime show or anything before or after the game. I try not to watch that crap. But, I did think that Lee, Kirk and Mike handled it pretty fairly. Lot of talk about perception and reality being different and how Geiger and Tressel will get it fixed.

One thing to note here. With the result of Zwick having a fabulous game, what we will hear now is that AG/JT didn't hurt the team and that it wasn't a big deal suspending TS for this game. And that it was a meaningless game, as will be the first game next year, so a two game suspension for TS is a meaningless punishment. This could not be further from the truth. This suspension may have just wrecked Smith's career and cost him MILLIONS of dollars. He just had a Vick-like performance in the UM game and with a solid bowl game, there is no way Zwick or anyone else would have unseated him for next year, and with his talent, he could have very possibly been an absolute superstar here and maybe at the next level. Now, Zwick has shown he is not chopped liver and that his performance before he got hurt was as much the team around him as it was him. And this QB race for next year has to be a wide open 3 man race now with Smith at the bottom of the pile. Not to mention that Zwick, by gutting out that hamstring pull, probably got huge leadership and lockerroom points as well. Smith may someday get the starting job back, but this suspension was a HUGE blow to his career.

And I cannot remember the last time we had two QBs as talented as these two at OSU, and to think, everyone watching practice says Boeckman may be better than both.

I didn't see the moron twins (Trev and Mark) before the game, but their comments seemed to set lots of people off. Their comments during the half seemed pretty rational, except for May throwing in a comment about Maldonado. I did catch a minute of them on ESPN2 after they game and they were saying JT and AG should know everything happening in the program, they are responsible and they will be fired.

It was almost like they toned down their comments and played them to their audience. The halftime TV audience was going to be Buckeyes and the other times were going to be more of a general cross-section of sports fans. I think they were just pandering to the audience.

I did like what Tirico and Herbie had to say at the half. Tirico said the administration was "hellbent" on fixing the problems. I did not think they were pandering to the audience at all, just trying to be responsible and show that it was not just the players who were the problem, but also the "boosters."

They also did an outside the lines on it. Did I miss something, or has this "big story" been "out there" for about a week now? Fuck'n ESPN makes it sound like this happend moments ago. "New problems for OSU"

"Another black eye for OSU" - when was the 1st black eye, by the way?

Friggin Tom Friend's stupid ass was on outside the lines... What a fuck. He's talking about Clarett's credibility and such and it's just obvious he's really talking about his own. He's got this freaky looking "I told ya so" look to him. He actually at one point said "More and more of what Maurice was talking about is now coming true." (Excuse me? More and more? interesting choice of words for 1 occurance. "coming true" Friend, you're a trained journalist. If you know how to use words, you'd think this one through better. You basically just said when you wrote the story it was fantasy because itat that time had not yet been true)

Look, I understand TS took some $ from a guy. I understand that OSU when it learned of it, immediately suspended TS. I understand the timing is poor in realtion to Mo's allegations. But it doesn't appear that these guys understand that these are seperate incidents entirely, and that Clarett said a BUNCH of shit that has NOT "come true" like Friend said.

I thought Tirico did a good job with his defense pre/post and during the game...Alberts and May were going insane all day long.

The other guy sitting with May and Alberts whose name I can't remember also tried to represent OSU's side, seems like there are at least a couple of trained journalists working for ESPN
