He takes almost zero risks in a fight. I'm not saying that's not smart. It's just not Andersonish.. Would you drop Aldo down or up after his fight last night? It was Kenflo so that's saying something.
BuckStocksHere;2010144; said:This will sound harsh but if you don't consider GSP one of the top fighters in the world you are flat out out of your freakin mind.
He absolutely OWNS his division and just because you don't like his "style" shouldn't penalize him. Hell you must hate half of the MMA fighters that aren't clay guida.
I'll take the guy who takes a ton of [Mark May] from fans - silva, and the othe other guy now taking [Mark May] from fans GSP.
maybe there's something to the two best in their sport being ridden by fans for not producing the most exciting fights but DOMINATING their sport! they both dominate- have done so for a long time and are 1 and 2 in my rankings. Until they lose it would be hard for me to place them anywhere else
Bones jones is awesome, electric, etc. But still not enough fights to be number 1 or even close for me. Okay, maybe close haha
BuckStocksHere;2010166; said:See, I think that just makes my point stronger. He doesn't HAVE to take risks - he is that much better than everyone else. Would you, seriously, throw 60 yard bombs the rest of the game if you were gaining 8 yds per carry? No way. He doesn't have to risk it until someone can force him to do so. I think that proves just how good he is.
Sure, most fans want crazy action, prefer strikers, and if they will admit it honestly, don't like grappling and bjj. I appreciate and like all of it so it doesn't bother how it plays out.
What I do hate is roy Nelson just laying on a guy because he is fatter than him.
TooTallMenardo;2010173; said:I love BJJ fighters more than I like any other type of Martial Art. BJ Penn is my favorite fighter of all time. I love fighters who, when there's blood in the water, ACTUALLY finish their fighters. It's not "throwing 60 yard bombs", it's having that shark mentality that GSP seems to lack anymore.
