MLB General Discussion (Official Thread)

HBP in strike zone is a dead ball and called strike. No trip to first base is awarded. In that Met’s game the batter had 2 strikes so it should have been called strike 3, he’s out.
I'm pretty sure they weren't allowed to review if he leaned into it or not.......but how can this rule not be reviewable? I guess maybe bc you can't review called strikes/balls?

Marlins should have protested right then and there, BEFORE THE UMPIRES LEAVE THE FIELD!!!!!

By rule, that's a dead ball strike.

They did protest, vehemently. The umps even reviewed it. Problem is all they can review is if it hit him. They aren't allowed to change it to a strike, which seems kind of dumb with the replay review.

Home plate ump admitted after the game that he blew the call.

I just don't get the outrage. Conforto leaned into one like any good hitter would do in that spot. Ump blew the call as will also sometimes happen.

I didn't see the game but my immediate question when something weird happens with the bases loaded is, how did the bases get loaded?

You want to blame someone for the loss Miami, blame yourself for getting into that spot.

Chicago has 2 regular players batting over .200 right now - Baez is at .242 and Bryant is at .233. Contreras went 2/3 today and JUST go to .200

To say that lineup sucks is an insult to sucking.

Watched them a bit here and there this week, Baez and Rizzo can't catch up to average fastballs right now. Don't help them out by flipping a bunch of off speed shit up there and they are completely overmatched at even 93-94 average MLB fastball type heat.

They better hurry up winning more WS titles. The sun is setting on this group.
