MLB General Discussion (Official Thread)

My teams weren’t even involved but that was a quick reminder of how Indians playoff games would leave me in an out of body, rabid state, between joy and heartbreak.

Playoff baseball, man.

It's awful. I genuinely made an effort to get to bed at a reasonable time last night. Wasn't going to turn on the game and make myself pissed off.
I woke up at like 11:30 to pee and then check my phone and then I was on for the next 90 minutes locked into replays and breakdowns.

The four teams who had a week off played 8 games this weekend, all at home. They went 2-6. That much time off is a disadvantage in baseball. They may get it going and come back, but you're playing from behind. The Dodgers and Braves both lost to wild card teams last year, having had a week off while the wild card series were played.

Wild card series benefit wild card teams, not division winners, and we're seeing it again. Baseball is not a sport where a week off is a benefit, it's a detriment - it's not football.

Wanna have more postseason games, aka money, in MLB it's simple. Go back to wild cards being one and done, make divisional round series 7 games, and give the teams who were better over 162 games an advantage. This shit isn't rocket science.

The more cash cows like the Dodgers choke in the first round, the quicker the mlb will change this format. Probably won’t prevent the Dodgers from choking in the first round, however.
