MLB General Discussion (Official Thread)

Baez did nothing wrong. You could argue retreating towards home would only trick an idiot, but Will Craig was stupid enough to take the bait, and the result of the play makes Baez look brilliant.
He steps back on first and what kind of fucking moron do you look like running back home after putting a ball in play? Especially with 2 outs.

Don’t confuse the result with the intent. All that 1B had to do was turn around, cover a couple of steps and step on the bag. Baez didn’t have much choice there after beating a head high pitch into the ground but running back home is imbecilic. Only a bigger imbecile being involved saved him.

How bad are the Rockies away from Coors Field? They got shutout by the Pirates today...twice.

Colorado is now 3-22 on the road with 10 shutouts.

That’s Redsian level incompetence and I don’t use that term lightly.

Bucs were 3 outs away from a sweep today but then remembered who they are, blowing a 3-2 lead to lose 4-3. :pirate:

Back to the conversation about hitters. Definitely have to give some credit to what pitchers are doing nowadays. Placing pitches in exact locations that end up doing complete opposite things.

The data around EV points to hitters being limited by the human brain's ability to process in time if pitches look the same for the first 20 ft then arrive at different locations/speeds.

Any hitter.

Darren Rovell-promoted gambler "Parlay Patz" took it too far, threatening to kill several Tampa Bay Rays players, among other threats. He has gotten himself on probation for his abuse.

If you are dumb enough to play parlays, at all but especially to the point where it becomes your fucking nickname, it doesn't surprise me one bit that you are ignorant enough to go crazy on others for your (guarandamnteed) losses.

Rays gonna lose this in a case of over managing. Snell gives up a 1 out base hit in the 6th.....73 pitches.....Cash pulls him. Double.....Wild pitch, tie game. Fielders choice then gives the dodgers a 2–1 lead.

Good lord, managers need to get back to having a pair and trusting their aces to do ace things.

5 1/3, 73 pitches, 2 hits, 9ks...pulled.

So I went back to these comments and looked at what Snell has done this year.

He has 1 game of 6 Innings pitched. In that game, and admittedly he was good, he went 6IP with 11 Ks and threw 97 pitches. By the way, that was against the worst team in baseball on the road in Colorado.

Since then he's thrown 6 2/3rds in the next two outings, giving up 12 earned runs.

My position back last fall is Blake Snell isn't efficient with his pitches and has an arm that turns to jelly if you overextend him. While maybe in the moment yanking him from that World Series game made no sense, and really it still doesn't, his track record of not being able to throw more than 6 innings has reasserted itself.

I don't judge people for gambling, but you gotta know that when you bet Pepperdine, you're betting on some real bums. It's not like the Waves are landing any recruits who are particularly good at basketball. Who do you really have to get mad at when you bet on those scrubs and they don't cover the spread? I'm not saying the Rays or other MLB teams deserved the abuse, but at least those guys are professionals & you can expect a certain level of play when you bet on them.
