Glad to see Maty succeed. I personally thought he might just be a system QB but he truly is a talent.

While the stats are insane, I wouldn't get too caught up on those.
What I would look at are things like his footwork, which is very impressive. Does a great job at maintaining his balance, solid short chops. The ball comes off his hand effortlessly and he has great accuracy. His arm strength is there without a doubt as he throws the deep ball with nice touch. Has a good feel in the pocket, good athlete. One worry is he gets a little herky jerky with his motion, but typically that is something that gets fixed as he gets older and adds some weight and muscle onto his frame so he doesn't have to turn into his throws so much. He has an issue of keeping the ball down while he's on the move around the pocket which coaches won't be happy about, but on a HS level with a kid like him it's not a big worry. Football runs in the family so you don't have to worry about his football IQ either. The 4 years of starters experience will be a huge intangible as well.
When you break it down, he's got a lot going for him and the negatives are things you'd keep an eye on to see if they get adjusted as he gets older. As far as young in-state QB's go, I find it hard to believe he will be a "hype" kid a year and a half from now.
Mauk in the loss to South Carolina yesterday: 10 for 25 (40.0%), 249 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT ... and those stats include a 96-yard TD pass. Take that play out of the equation, and you're looking at 9 for 24 (37.5%) for 153 yards and an INT. I think that Ohio State will do just fine with the QB's that they have.

If anyone is asking "what if" in the midst of a 20-game winning streak....No one is saying OSU won't be fine at QB but Mauk has the potential to be great and for being a kid from Ohio it's easy to see why fans would wonder "what if?"

FIFYThen what? Maty is a RS FR, he'd have two years after Brax and at the very least be in the competition with Cardale next year to be back up, and as we've seen this year that can be a spot that plays a few games.
A 20-game win streak, and this 20 game win streak, has been built on having such important depth with players who can play.
No disrespect to young Mr Mauk, but he couldn't carry my main man Cardale's jock strap! Then what? Maty is a RS FR, he'd have two years after Brax and at the very least be in the competition with Cardale next year to be back up, and as we've seen this year that can be a spot that plays a few games.

I think he'd look great in scarlet and grey. It's hard to go wrong with that color combination. I just wouldn't want him on the field as tOSU quarterback, especially with JT as our option.Georgia shuts out Mizzou, 34-0.n
Maty Mauk's stat line: 9 for 21, 97 yards, 4 INT's, 3 sacks, and a fumble lost.
If anyone still thinks that he'd look good in scarlet and grey, I don't know what to tell you.
