Mizzou Tigers (official thread)

Crescent-News.com - Kenton 58, Defiance 6

The high-flying Wildcats of Kenton raced out to a 30-0 lead at Defiance?s Fred J. Brown Stadium on Friday night on the way to a 58-6 Western Buckeye League victory over the host Bulldogs.

Max Morrison scored five touchdowns for Kenton (7-1, 6-1 WBL, ranked No. 6 in Division IV), while junior quarterback Maty Mauk became the second leading passer in Ohio high school history, passing Ada's Zac Dysert in the process. Mauk finished the game 28-of-44 for 373 yards, with six TDs and two picks.

Mauk now has 11,433 passing yards for his career, while his brother Ben Mauk passed for 17,364 yards during his time at Kenton from 1999-2002 to set the all-time record. Dysert, the starting quarterback for Miami of Ohio, is now third with 11,174 passing yards.

"M&M Boys" Mauk and Morrison are magnificent - MaxPreps News

The Kenton (Ohio) High School duo not only lead the country in passing and receiving, but dominate most categories by a wide margin.

Mauk, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound junior who is well on pace to break his brother Ben's national career mark for passing yards, has completed 270 of 406 passes for 3,908 yards and 47 touchdowns. He is almost 400 yards better than the second-most prolific passer and he's completed 16 more passes than anyone.

Morrison, a 6-1, 180-pound senior and grandson of former New York Giants all-time great Joe Morrison, has been on the receiving end of 107 of those passes for 1,524 yards and 21 touchdowns.

The reception total is a ridiculous 25 more than anyone nationally. He's 19 yards behind national leader and 2008-09 National Athlete of the Year Dorial Green-Beckham, who has played one more game, and Morrison is tied for the country's lead in TD receptions.

Yet through the gobs of numbers and completions and touchdowns, Kenton coach Mike Mauk has no trouble singling out his favorite moment. Not surprisingly, it happens multiple times per game, but very quizzically it occurs while Mauk and Morrison are on the bench ? well after the outcome has been decided.

Considering the 8-1 Wildcats, who often run a no-back, no-huddle, spread attack, have outscored foes 486-157, the "M&M Boys" are often on the sideline.

Looks to be incredibly accurate, good mechanics, gets rid of the ball fast! With Braxton Miller in the fold, no way he is going to be a Buckeye :(. With this kid's fundamentals and talent he could very possibly be a 4 year starter somewhere. As long as he doesn't get his arm wrecked like his brother, I see him racking up some crazy numbers in the next few years.

'No surprises:' Kenton QB Mauk bombs Carlisle

Kenton quarterback Maty Mauk is billed as one of the best in the state and, sadly for Indians fans, he didn't disappoint.

Mauk, who came into the game having thrown for 53 touchdowns and more than 4,000 yards, tossed seven touchdowns on 21-for-42 passing for 537 yards in the win. He ran for a 4-yard touchdown, too.

"No surprises," Carlisle coach Billy Jewell said. "They're as good as we thought they would be. We thought the sleet and rain might've helped us, but that wasn't any help at all."

National Player of the Year Watch - MaxPreps News

Maty Mauk, QB, Kenton (Ohio)
Team record: 11-1
Last weekend: The air show continued in a 36-28 Division IV playoff win over Clinton-Massie as Mauk hit on 27 of 40 pass attempts for 369 yards and five touchdowns. He also pounded out 120 yards on the ground.
Season: Could a 6,000-yard passing, 1,000-yard rushing season be within reach? It depends on how much further Kenton can progress in the postseason, but with three possible games left to play, Mauk has 5,280 yards and 65 touchdowns through the air with another 901 yards and 15 scores in the running game.

Alter thwarts Mauk in big spots
By Kyle Nagel, Staff Writer

WAPAKONETA ? The Alter High School defense watched plenty of video clips of Kenton High School quarterback Maty Mauk and his semi-sidearm passing delivery.

The defenders, like fans across the state, gawked at Mauk?s passing numbers. Entering Friday?s Division IV, Region 16 final against the Knights, Mauk had already passed for 5,280 yards and 65 touchdowns during the previous 12 games of his junior season.

. . .

But, with Mauk and the Kenton offense, nothing is easy on the defense. Mauk completed 28-of-45 passes for 386 yards and four touchdowns, and he rushed for 78 yards and a score.

. . .

?He,? Alter coach Ed Domsitz said of Mauk, ?is as good as I?ve seen.?

I'm normally one to think that these small school, big stat guys are vastly overrated. And that usually ends up being the case. But I'm definitely intrigued by Mauk. He seems to have legit athleticism. Not Braxton Miller level but maybe similar to Dan Persa or somebody like that.

Assuming we probably aren't going to get a sure-fire national 5 star type in 2012 after landing Braxton in 2011, I wouldn't mind seeing Mauk get an offer.
