Yes, if that wasn't dealt with harshly and swiftly by the administration, I agree that serious action is called for. That is a university problem, unlike some rando, who may or may not be a student, shouting crap out of a car window.

This has been building for a long time.
The University system President signed his resignation when he met accusations that he's been ineffectual and dismissive of cultural problems on campus with a statement that he'd have a report next spring.

I must be missing something here.
Some people were racist assholes. Ok, not a crime but there are reporting consequences and whatnot in government fairy land.
Unless this guy did something himself which I haven't heard, they must be saying he didn't do something he had a duty to do in his role as President.
The only duty the President would have would be the typical reporting, enforcement and zero tolerance policies. I doubt President types get involved in any of these matters as there is no money to be made doing so.
What exactly happened that went wrong here? Some racism, gotcha, I gotta say assholes have the right to say whatever they want regardless of your safe space. If the University didn't do something to stop the rhythmic slapping of racism when it reared its ugly head, the university needs to pay. But if they are getting punished because of some random racists, are you fucking kidding me.
I am assuming this is just lazy media not explaining the issue. Maybe I am late to the issue and need to read some links, but the news coverage I saw and the comments here don't show me where the university or this president have done anything wrong. These protesters and their supporters can't possibly be as stupid as they seem to be, can they?
Is this President falling on the knife because he couldn't make people on his campus (students, faculty, staff, and passers thru) be 100% not racist?
Is he the real victim here and his only crime being not able to impose the tyranny of the majority on free people?
Who the fuck put the majority in charge of anything let alone matters above basic individual rights?
Is the right not to be offended greater than the right to free yet hateful speech?

Me, I am rooting on American University, specifically the Vichy DC campus of American University.
After all the forcing in, it would only be appropriate that that guy gets to experience some forcing out too.
