Mixed Martial Arts (Official Thread)

Rep for bringing that to my attention grad. I had no idea that fight took place.

That is absolutely disgusting! Between that, the armbar, and the hematoma, the UFC injury meter took a huge hit last night.

Your pic is dead on Buckyle. I was eating some taco bell when I logged onto BP, and found the MMA thread earlier... the taco bell went in the fridge. :tongue2:

Normally they put some current names on the finale card, this time it's all ultimate fighter house members, so it's really hard for me to care. Plus, this season was more soap opera than fighting imo, Junie should have been tossed a long time ago as past seasons have seen people booted for less, and all that fucking with each others food just really kind of killed the season for me.

Jeff Monson charged with mischief; ESPN not an accomplice
By Maggie Hendricks

Jeff Monson is either really dumb or really smart. I'm leaning towards the latter.
The fighter, who last appeared in the Mixed Fighting Alliance, winning over Ricco Rodriguez in December, has a warrant against him for defacing the Capitol building in Olympia, Wash. This warrant was issued after pictures of him painting an anarchist symbol on the building appeared in ESPN the Magazine.

Shitty ending, Cerrone and Varner are both great to watch and for 4 rounds they didn't disappoint, I thought Varner was in serious trouble in that 5th round, but meh, ask Anderson Silva how kneeing a downed opponent works out for ya.

Fucking horse shit. Dana is a fucking douche. Get someone that can challenge Silva.

MONTREAL ? Anderson Silva wasn?t one of the Ultimate Fighting Championship?s biggest pay-per-view draws despite a slew of highlight reel knockouts and a reputation as the finest mixed martial arts fighter in the world.
After Saturday?s performance, the toughest job in sports may belong to the person who has to devise a marketing campaign for his next fight.
Silva won a unanimous decision over Thales Leites in the main event of UFC 97 on Saturday night at the Bell Centre, but it was such a mystifying and dreadful performance that it left UFC president Dana White angry and embarrassed.
?I can honestly tell you that I?ve never put on an event that I was embarrassed to be at until tonight,? White said. ?I want to publicly apologize to all the fans.?

I mean, honestly...he should be embarrassed...for trying to make Silva look like the bad guy for doing his job. Fuck Dana.

A lot of fans are disgusted by Silva too. Sherdog's forums have a lot of people on the "I'll never but a PPV that Silva is headlining" bandwagon. That fight was dreadful to watch.

I'm not buying it. He did everything he could to get the guy to fight. I've never seen a fight where one guy dropped on his back forty times. I mean...seriously...at one point, Silva turned his back. TURNED HIS BACK! He was kicking and punching him while he was on the ground, and he chased him for five rounds. I don't know what people expect from him. He's trying to win. I mean...what was the challenger trying to accomplish? He talks about going five rounds with Silva...everyone knows that's not what really went down. He avoided him for five rounds.

People expect the P4P champ to be more aggressive and press the action. If you aren't an exciting fighter it doesn't matter how good you are people won't care.
