Fedor Emelianenko vs Andrei Arlovski Affliction fight slated for October 11 at UFC blog for UFC news, results, videos, rumors, fights, pics and tickets — MMAmania.com

Fresh off what many feel to be a major success with its first-ever show on July 19 dubbed, ?Banned,? Affliction MMA will go for an encore in the backyard of the promotion that ?banned? it in the first place. Indeed, Affliction has its sights set on Las Vegas, Nevada, on October 11 for its next show, according to Yahoo!Sports.com. And anyone who?s anyone knows that ?Sin City? is UFC turf ? the organization that forbid its fighters to don the clothing company?s apparel at its events.
But who really cares about that because the same report confirms that former UFC champion Andrei Arlovski will challenge the last man to hold the Pride FC heavyweight strap, Fedor Emelianenko, likely for the Russian?s newly-won heavyweight WAMMA title in the main event of the evening.
It?s a dream match that ost fans have fantasized about for years.
And perhaps the only thing that can top that news is what ace the UFC pulls from its sleeve to once again counter this latest bold move. Perhaps it once again includes UFC Middleweight Champion, Anderson Silva.
This is getting good. Real good.

Interesting, I saw on Spike that during the replay of the Sherk/Penn bout at the last UFC, Dana White will have a special announcement, I am hoping he's going to announce some card to compete with the next Fedor fight, I love having two cards on the same night

Three Bouts Added to UFC 88 Lineup

Former middleweight champion Rich Franklin (Pictures) will return to the 205-pound weight class for the first time in more than three years when he tackles Matt Hamill (Pictures) in one of the featured bouts at UFC 88: Breakthrough on Sept. 6 at Philips Arena in Atlanta.

The UFC announced the light heavyweight bout on Wednesday, along with a middleweight tilt pairing Dan Henderson (Pictures) with Rousimar Palhares (Pictures) and a welterweight match pitting Karo Parisyan (Pictures) against Yoshiyuki Yoshida (Pictures).

Only two men -- reigning UFC middleweight king Anderson Silva (Pictures) and his undefeated teammate, Lyoto Machida (Pictures) -- have defeated Franklin (23-3, 10-2 UFC) as a professional. The 33-year-old former math teacher has not tested the light heavyweight waters since he stopped UFC Hall-of-Famer Ken Shamrock (Pictures) on strikes at ?The Ultimate Fighter? Live Finale in April 2005. Franklin last appeared at UFC 83 in April when he secured a second-round TKO victory against Travis Lutter (Pictures).

That was Dana Whites big announcement. I am guessing there will be no title defenses.

Here are the fights on that card so far:

Michael Bisping Vs. Chris Leben
Lyoto Machida Vs. Thiago Silva
Rameau Sokoudjou Vs. Luiz Cane
Dan Hardy Vs. Akihiro Gono
Shane Carwin Vs. Neil Wain

MMA Fans:

The NAAFS will be returning to Columbus on September 19th, 2008 with Night of Pain IV. I am involved with the promotion of these shows and let me tell you, outside of the UFC, Night of Pain IV is going to be one of the best live show you can see in anywhere. I can't say exactly what the card is going to look like but there is going to be at least one and possibly more championship belts on the line. Additonally, you are definetely going to see some past and future UFC fighters there. Night of Pain IV will be at The Hoop at 4185 East Fifth Avenue. Keep an eye on this site NAAFS.tv - Official Home of the North American Allied Fight Series for updated information as the event draws nearer.
