Mixed Martial Arts (Official Thread)

Agreed. In terms of stats, Aljo threw more strikes. But I thought Cejudo blocked many of those. Would like to see that one again.

Found out about 20 minutes ago that a coworker is friends with Cejudo. Well, maybe more of an acquaintance but they are friendly. He showed me some photos of the two having a good time. Said Henry is super, super nice. Love to hear it

That Gracie fight…… felt like 1993 again (not a compliment). I know the name is legendary. But the sport evolved.

USADA stands by initial statement as UFC plans legal action

The UFC has threatened legal action against the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency following a statement USADA made Wednesday announcing an end to the partnership between the two organizations.

UFC chief business officer Hunter Campbell said at a news conference Thursday that he sent a legal letter to USADA on Wednesday night accusing it of defamation and demanding that it issue a retraction and apology by 5 p.m. Thursday.

Campbell and UFC executive Jeff Novitzky also announced Thursday that the UFC will use Drug Free Sport to collect drug-test samples beginning next year and the UFC's anti-doping program will be led by former FBI agent George Piro as an independent administrator.

In USADA's release Wednesday, CEO Travis Tygart issued a statement saying that the agency will cease being the UFC's anti-doping partner beginning Jan. 1, 2024. Tygart wrote that the UFC did an "about-face" on their relationship Monday and it was due to USADA's stance about the status of Conor McGregor.

Not surprising, and not a good look for the UFC.

Crazy head kick tonight. Was total lights out. Exciting fight too. I missed most of the card because of OSU, but I basically turned the fight on and saw a dude get his brain turned off.

They announced Leon Edwards/Colby Covington. I feel similarly about Covington as I do Strickland... insufferable jackasses.

Jiri/Alex Periera should be awesome. Mackenzie Dern is also fighting.

Colby looked awful and acted like he won during his post-fight chat with Rogan. He told Leon Edwards this week that his dead (murdered) father was burning in hell. Fuck Colby.

Dana said PPV buys went up 25% after that press conference.. so I assume some fighters are going to do more of this shit..

Speaking of total assholes, Strickland basically assaulted Du Plessis in the crowd.

Pretty aggressive PR week for the UFC.

Volkanovski's reign at 145 is over. Topuria KO'd him viciously last night. Topuria looks ridiculously good. He's very efficient with his movement, has good defense, very explosive. Not sure who is gonna be able to take him out. Max Holloway will probably get the first shot (if there is no rematch with Volk, which I expect there to be a rematch).

Was a pretty stacked card. The next couple are gonna be huge too. 299 and 300.

Michael Venom Page is currently making his debut vs. Kevin Holland. MVP looks pretty good. Holland has gotten some shots in though, and even had MVP in a choke at one point.

MVP is winning though.

Also, DC and Rogan are insufferable together. They decide who they want to win and just talk about what that person is doing. They're both great with Anik, but together... fuck.

Rising star Dakota Ditcheva remains undefeated after winning last night at the PFL event on ESPN2. Her striking was spot on, winning with shots to the body. Here are the highlights of the talents that make her a future global star:

(Her fight highlights were good too).
