HEY! WHY DON'T THOSE DANG LAZY, FAT, GOOFBALLS IN THE SEC WANT TO PLAY GAMES IN THE SNOW AND COLD! THAT'S REAL FOOTBAW! THEY ARE PUSSIES AND CAN'T HANDLE THE COLD TEMPERATURES.

THERE SHOULD BE COLD WEATHER BCS GAMES! HARRUMPH, HARRUMPH!

/everyone on Buckeye Planet

How is snow and cold different from monsoon rains -- many bowl games--
or an earthquake -- one World Series?

Answer, just colder, nothing more and nothing less.

As long as bowl games were considered exhibition games there was no need to be concerned. Now that standings for the whole season are greatly impacted by bowl results they are no longer exhibition games - they are games that determine national champions and the final rankings below NC - thus WHERE they are played becomes an important factor.

Lets put the top four bowls in Chicago, New York, Miami and LA and rotate the NC game.

What a fun time.

TCF, The University of Minnesota and The Big 10 all should feel good about tonight. I was surprised that some of the logos weren't covered up more... but when I think back about what went into the snow removal I shouldn't have been.

This is the type of NFL game I love. The people who made it out tonight WANTED to be there. You could tell it from the get-go with the seemingly almost full participation with the national anthem.

Tonight has made me want a 16 team CFB playoff even more - as long as at least the first 2 rounds are at the home of the higher seed. Sorry... but FSU and LSU "I hate snow, I'm going to school in the south. I'll deal with it if I make the pros" kids want NOTHING to do with what happened tonight. Their fans want NOTHING to do with this. There are reasons that the Dolphins tanked yearly against the Bills and the Buccaneers took 30-something tries to finally win a sub-freezing game.

For the record... until we get to this type of system that means the BCSNCG and the other BCS games are all held in good weather sites. I still advocate for the Big 10 CG to be indoors as we need to produce the best team to represent the conference in games which will take place in similar weather environments. The day we get that playoff with home field advantages is the day I'll support a Big 10 CG to be at Soldier Field.

Oh... and they had the 50 Greatest Players in Vikings History thing: Jim Marshall, Robert Smith, Cris Carter and Antoine Winfield made the team and were present. Go Buckeyes!!!!!

Thanks for the 1st person history. I'll simply repeat that playing west of the Rockies and south of the Mason - Dixon is no guarantee of "good weather" either.

No doubt it will take great energy to pry the fingers of the current Bowl Owners from the tourist dollars and the rights to host such games, but hey, we could use some money up here.

Oh, and no thanks on the idea of Arena ball. If the NFL can do it -- play outside in December and January -- so can the colleges.

This post if for two different things. First, the Vikings may use TCF for 2011....

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5956782

Minnesota Vikings owner Zygi Wilf has publicly campaigned for an open-air stadium to replace the Metrodome. He just might get a full-season shakedown cruise at the stadium that hosted the Vikings last Monday night.

Sources say the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission is assessing the viability of playing the 2011 season outdoors at TCF Bank Stadium at the University of Minnesota, the stadium that hosted the Vikings' game against the Chicago Bears when the Metrodome roof was damaged by heavy snow.

Issue 2 (though I know it belongs in another thread)

I can think of only 2 BCS games since the inception in the 1998 season which have been played in poor conditions. So my advocation of the B10CG being indoors to mimic the conditions of the BCS games holds.

Yes, colleges CAN do it. But until there is a playoff with higher seeded teams earning home games, then the best thing to do to prepare for a championship or Rose Bowl environment is to play a game in as similar conditions as possible.
