Fourth Metrodome roof panel fails, nobody hurt

MINNEAPOLIS -- Crews weren't kidding when they determined the Metrodome roof wouldn't be repaired in time for the Vikings to host the Giants next Monday night.

A fourth panel failed Wednesday night, sending more snow and ice crashing to the Dome's floor. No one was injured, all workers have been pulled off the floor and repairs have been called off for the rest of the evening.

Investigators will be taking a look at the remaining panels to determine if they are stable.

The Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission has a meeting scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Metrodome.

Better start building that new stadium.....

I have my ticket for Monday night (thanks to a media outlet)... now I am waiting to see where I will be sitting in TCF. It won't be as good as the sideline pass I had for OSU football game there!!

Youbetcha I am going to put on some warm clothing!

The stadium is actually not bad for a college stadium. Sure, it doesn't have the character of Ohio Stadium, but few do.

Actually I think in one sense the warm weather actually hurts SEC schools.

Think how much easier it would be for the coaches/school admin/boosters to pay the players if they could just hide the cash under layers of heavy clothing instead of having to go through all the machinations they currently endure in a warm weather climate.

Big parka's would make payday a whole lot easier on you guys.

why not? those places would be to cold for you and your snuggie josh?
:shake:

sounds like flawed sec logic to me jwins.
That's "slanket" to you, jo. It is a fine setting for a playoff home game, but a weak one for attracting fans to a neutral site.

An article I saw yesterday said something about first-come, first-served, at least as far as the 'too many tickets, not enough seats' quandary. Not sure if it'll be all-out general admission though, but you may want to get there plenty early. Looking forward to watching this one and hearing your first-hand account!

I really hope they place some padding on those brick walls in the corners - they're only 3 or 4 steps away from the end zone.

On retrospect this post is especially poignant after the Wrigley 'scandal'.
