Game Thread Minnesota @ Ohio State - 10/13/18, 12:00PM (FS1)

Why was the official keeping Haskins from snapping the ball with the clock running after the first down?

Because the Buckeyes substituted, which was a very poor decision in that situation. I don't care how gassed someone is. When you sub, the ref stops play until the D has a chance to sub. Did the official stand there much longer than he should have? Absolutely, and the crowd was right to boo his ass for doing so.

The coaching staff never should have given him the opportunity to do that.

Why is a false start with a stopped clock a 10 second runoff?

Because it wasn't a fully stopped clock until the next snap (like with an incompletion or running out of bounds).

It was only a temporary stopped clock on a first down until the ball is set, then it runs.

Is a false start a false start if the ref is preventing a snap?

After 0.3s further thought, it's a false start if the guy in the funny striped shirt pulls the yellow hanky. But still.

Best I can say is that you make adjustments and forget this first half. That's all you can do. Bad play and coaching against a bad team. Have to figure out a way to put Minnesota behind on 1st down, which seemed like OSU was having more success with in the last few drives.

If the defense can shorten Minnesota's drives, it will take pressure off the offense. They're playing tight because they're not getting a lot of possessions and feel like they need to get a quick TD every time because they know the D is struggling. Settle down, get a TD to open the half and impose your will. That's all you can do right now.

I don't think the players have confidence in their coaches right now.
Poor coaching decisions littered throughout this game IMO.. at the shoe and I can say the crowd wasnt pleased.

Time management has been poor all game and once again a shit show on 4th an 1 gets stopped.

Just yikes... defense is just treading water at this point. I sort of feel bad for the offense to be frank they keep trotting out there knowing they need six or it might get away from us.

I honestly have no answers for the defense and the offense just kills itself when it does fail.
