Military aircraft you've flown on

as a military aircraft virgin, it's difficult to conceive the size of these things... being with Goodyear for decades, I DO know how big aircraft tires are... and that's the only concept I can use to relate to my perception of how massive these craft are...

now that I see some of these pictures... I've actually seen some of these bad boys in the air overhead... I live near Princeton and some of these bad boys must go into some of the bases like McGuire and maybe Fort Dix.. but I also see some mean ass looking fighter jets too

thanks fellas

Talking with cincibuck about some of the older aircraft made me look up some photos of our nation's first jet fighters and our first supersonic bomber:

FWIW,

My BIL is a P-3 navigator. After a few years of inactivity, he is being re deployed. Will be based out of Hawaii, but his Battle Group will support activities in South America and the ME.

If you recall it was an EP-3 that was taken down by the Chinese pilot Wang Wei. My BIL had been briefing pilots on Wangs exploits.

He would pull in front of an EP-3 and let the slower plan catch up. Coming as close to the plane as possible, he would show a sign with his yahoo email address before hitting the burners.

Vomit comet out of Houston.

I guess you could say a ride on this was my entire military career inasmuch as I was paid by the Navy to be a human research subject. Two scary things happened: I couldn't remember which apple opened the chute and which one released the harness. Not a good thing to forget! And I was sitting below a live speaker listening the crew attempt to deal with a serious problem in-flight. Scared the beejeezus out of me. Fortunately the flight was called back, canceled, moments later. And thus ended my stint in the USN.

If you notice, NO FIGHTERS!!!! That sucks, the whole purpose of being on the flightline is to get in a fighter!

Yes, I know the Predator is pilot-less, but I have flown it for a few moments when we were deployed, and I have a ton of pics with me "riding" it:biggrin:
