We all know Tressel is a great coach but some of these posts are trying to make it sound like Miles is a pushover.
Respect has to be earned. 1 SEC title & 1 win over the team w/ the worst bowl streak does not grant that level of respect.

You chose the metric, and are now upset when that focus shines very favorably on the other coach.

I guess your right. Miles can't carry Tressel's jock with all those I-AA titles of his. We're doomed.

You said pushover...we are just stating the facts...and they don't lie:osu:

go back and read the original post, I never used the word resume. and I also said that Ohio State would have an advantage in this category. I also said I don't think it's as big of an advantage that a lot of people would like to believe.

Those "numbers" that you keep quoting won't have any more of an impact on the game than Ohio State being 0-8 against SEC teams in bowl games.

The point of the thread was simply as coaches how do they match up. I have said MULTIPLE times that I think Tressel is the best coach in the country. So why would numbers supporting my own opinion upset me?

The only thing I have said at any point in this thread is that Miles is a very underrated coach by most of the rest of the country, a notion that has been reinforced by the general attitude that Ohio State fans have posted those "numbers" with. Fortunately for him and for us he has a great opportunity to shut the naysayers up for good on the 7th. I'm confident he will do a great job in preparing this team for a championship game against a great opponent.

Ok, we'll see. I'm happy that Ohio State people can post a little bulletin board material of their own.
I'd hardly call that "bulletin board material".

I don't think anyone is saying Miles is a pushover, but when you post a "Miles vs. Tressel" thread on a Buckeye board, you'd better be expecting than most will give Tressel a significant advantage.

Tressel has coached in enough national championship games to equate to almost a full season.
Let's expand this point. Tressel has essentially three full seasons' worth of post-season experience: 34 games in which he is 27-7 (23-5 in I-AA playoffs, 4-2 in I-A bowls), including a still-standing record of 15 straight I-AA playoff wins that was among an amazing 22-1 stretch. Oh yeah, this is his ninth national title game since in 17 seasons.

So if you already know that Tressel is the better coach, why bring it up?:osu:

I suppose I overestimated Ohio State fans' ability to have a non-partisan discussion about the subject.

How can we be non-partisan when your coach is an alum of SCum...we

want this NC as badly as you...but if you think we are going to bad mouth

JT you are greatly mistaken!:osu:

So, now you're basically stating that if we don't put Miles at/near the same level as Tressel we're being "partisan"?

No.

Go back and look at the responses in this thread, and the attitude from which they were posted. If you tell me that they aren't biased at least a little bit then you're insulting my intelligence.

I know, I know..."It's just the numbers", right? Then why are you only quoting numbers that are positive for Tressel/Ohio State? Why are you only quoting those supposedly non-bias "numbers" (numbers are never biased, are they?) while not talking about the relative strengths or weaknesses of each coach? Do you just not know enough about what kind of a coach Miles is to make a comparison? If not then how can you claim to compare them without being biased in your analysis?

Sadly... probably true.

I watched about 3-4 LSU games this year and my thought was "That guy's nuts!" but it seemed to work for him. Can he continue to "play loose" with so much at stake? Who knows. If the game goes LSUs way early, he seems like the kind of guy who's going to go for broke... either giving OSU a way back in or crushing them completely. If the game goes OSUs way early, Tressel will slow the game down and milk a 3 point lead for 3 quarters if that's what it takes to win. Your guy's way is probably more fun to watch, but my guy's way seems more likely to work in the long haul.
