Don’t fault him at all. Guy was an OC at Oklahoma State leading prolific offenses. Being a QB coach at OSU was a short-term move until he found his next stop.
Being named Texas OC is a big deal even if we dislike Herman. I don’t think Day has an issue with this at all.
I disagree it’s a lateral move....there’s a significant difference in QB coach and being the OC and getting play-calling duties.
If Texas turns it around next year, he’s in line for a decent HC job after working under Day and then revitalizing Texas. If Texas doesn’t improve, he can always latch on elsewhere. I get it.
Meh - it's a big 'if' when you say if Texas can turn it around, odds are highly against them.
And he has quite a bit to go until he gets to legit HC territory; now he'd probably be looking at FCS territory, which maybe he's okay with right now.
I respectfully disagree with this. There is a lot of power in the Ohio State brand and their coaching tree. Even if was just 1 season, the time spent under Day is going to carry a lot of weight. Look what it did for Hafley and he’s not even on offensive side of ball. I don’t think anybody could have foreseen Hafley going from Co-DC to HC at BC after 1 season.
If Yurcich improves their offense, and I think he’ll be able to, I think he’ll be a hit commodity. Just my opinion.

Well I think under herman you get the same ability to call plays that you did under Meyer. Aka you technically call the plays but the headcoach can and will step in to overrule you at any time. I dun get it. Yes you technically get to call plays but it's like becoming a new OC for Helton if Harrell would have left this year. You have one year and it better be great and even if it is should Ash decided to pull a Schiano it doesn't matter anyways. I could see it if it was next year with a new USC or Texas head coach.. .but this year seems like an unnecessary risk.Do you really get play calling duties though? I thought Herman called the plays. It's probably the reason Beck was "reassigned" and not canned but Herman couldn't show no changes on offense staff.
