I don't have an opinion one way or the other the us but I find it interesting that the police have an informant for dog fighting and that he spotted Vick in 2000 and this comes to light now

I can tell you right now as a fact that the feds post 9/11 have no one working dog fights and probably before the issue would have never been on their radar. Federal law enforcement is interested in prosecuting serious felonies.

I've seen the story on ESPN, with them talking to the informant and the prosecutor, while each of them has his identity masked.

I'm surprised they go right into the film of dogs fighting without some sort of warning beforehand. It apprears that they're going for shock value in their report. EDIT - they do say 'Some of these images may be disturning' before the segment, but it runs for several minutes, with clips of fights mixed into the report a few times.

The informant states that his dog defeated Vick's in 2000, but I'm not sure that's the same timeframe he's talking about when referring to Vick as a 'major player' who drops $30K to $40K on fights.

I'd forgotten that Qytnel Woods was in trouble for dog fights a couple of years ago. The star value of the player definitely decides the size of the story.

I didnt actually watch the show, but from the article and what I have read that is kinda my feelings as well...

Also he was stated that he dropped 5 grand on the fight in 2000, at least that is what the guy reports...

Yes, he mentions $5K in the 2000 fight, and also mentions him as somebody that would bet $30K to $40K on dog fights. It wasn't clear, but it seemed like that was in a more recent time frame.

The informant also says "Everybody in the dog world is worried about Michael Vick talking".

The Falcons have 3 players on the team that excepted cash while at VT, Vick, Jimmy Williams, and DHall. The fact Vick was dumb enough to be at a dog fight in 2000 throwing around a bunch of money he shouldn't have had in the first place speaks volumes about his intelligence and maturity in my eyes. Vick just seems to be a scumbag. As for regreting the Schaub trade that will only be the case if Vick is somehow banned from the league. Schaub wouldn't have resigned next off-season with Vick still on the team, then the Falcons would have gotten nothing for him. I don't think they regret it at all, yet.....

The brick house Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick owned on Moonlight Road in rural Smithfield, Va., is painted white. It has a white door, a white fence and a huge white gate that opens on a spare front lawn holding a white birdbath. In the woods behind the house, out of view from the road, stand five smaller buildings. These are painted black -- not gray or charcoal, but pure black, as if they'd been dipped in ink. They are set off from the house by a fence, also painted black.
Kathy Strouse, an animal control officer, was standing in front of those outbuildings as night fell on April 25 when a simple question came to her: Why the black paint? A moment passed before Strouse had an answer. At night, when most dogfights are held, no one would know these buildings were here.

I am not at all surprised how this is all coming out, the question is will anyone be able to prove anything? After what I have seen in the past couple years I won't be shocked if there's no evidence, everyone knows but nothing comes of it. That's the way the Reggie Bush saga went, odds are that's how the Pacman Jones strip club incident will go down, and I can see the same happening here. The question is will the NFL just suspend him without any real conviction, they did with Pacman.

yes they will. There is too much pressure and this story has blown up way too much for the NFL to not suspend him IMO. Don't know if it will be for the entire year or not but I doubt he gets out unpunished. My bigger question is will ATL. cut him or void his contract. I wish they could get away from him without the cap hit. I can hear it now....."Now starting at QB for your Edmonton Eskimos......Michael Vick!!!!"

My question is why is this informant anonymously granting ESPN interviews? It could certainly be legitimate, but when you're getting paid to rat on someone, there is inherent bias. If the informant has had a sudden life-change and cares about protecting the dogs he once trained to be killers, why not just make yourself a witness for purposes of a criminal investigation and/or trial? Did Vick do something to personally piss him off? It just doesn't add up, unless he is in it for the money, which I am sure ESPN is happy to provide.

I am sure a lot of people outside the Ohio State fan base believed the informants on the Maurice Clarett story where he was claimed to have received special treatment with academics and money from the University. The expelled graduate teaching assistant was my personal favorite.

According to the report, he has already done this many times.

My uneducated guess is that the lawyers are not making use of him against Vick, so he is turning elsewhere. It could be for the money, to smear Vick, or to tell what happened.

He's helped take down others, for whatever unknown reasons. Why would he not do the same with Vick?
