Mid - Year reassessment

cincibuck

You kids stay off my lawn!
Wow, we had our hopes way up there in August and despite the Texas loss we saw ways to get to Pasedena.

Time to re-assess the season. Here are some things I think: 1. Troy Smith is more Stanley Jackson and less Vince Young than I thought. 2. We still don't have running game or a complete package back. 3. Our defense should sue for non-support. 4. How do you win an NC with the 2002 team and can't get a sniff of the Rose Bowl with this team? 5. Michigan, Purdue, Oklahoma are having bad years too. (and yeah, with this talent I consider this a bad year) 6. Penn State, Notre Dame, UCLA and Virginia Tech continue to amaze me. 7. This year's Big 10 stinks. The league is little better than the ACC and with Miami and Florida State now in the ACC maybe not as good at the top as the ACC. 8. We keeping running down USC and they keep on scoring 42 points a game. 9. If we don't get some help from USC and Tenn we're in big recruiting trouble with ND. We need to be at or near the top of the Region to keep ND recruiting from getting the areas blue chippers.

I am serious I am not sure what games I watch but holy cow Pittman is getting us yards every time he touches the ball. What do people want? His YPC is really really good. I am not sure what he finished with but he was right around 4.0 YPC vs Penn State. He has been a bright spot in this horribly executed offense IMO.

The 2002 team was considerably more talented than the current squad.

Notre Dame will always appeal to certain kids, and will always be a turn-off to others. The Domers will get their share, and so will OSU, and so will Michigan. Notre Dame will never get all of the area's "blue chippers" (no team will).

Tressel is still trying to build team chemistry. But it just smells on offense right now! :bonk:

The real irony of the QB situation is that it's widely agreed we have, as a whole ,the best, if not the best group of QBs we've ever had!

Pittmans fine, we just need a good back-up to step up...

Schnittker does not have the talent to be our second string running back...
:osu: He so called - fits in the offense, has experience - even considering that, is Schnittker, really the second best back? Nobody else can fit in?
He didn't fumble, last night - that's not bad. One thing you should be able to count on, from a big lumbering back....no fumbles
