Michigan 27, #9 Wisconsin 25 (Final)

They looked good in the first half too. Wiscy's average field position in the first half was their own 44. They started their first two drives inside our 40 and came away with two field goal tries. I think they did a great job keeping the game close-ish.
Perhaps you were in the bathroom during Clay's run.

The one bad play of the half. And it came after they had just done their job only to have Mathews flub it up for them. Take away that run and Wiscy has 2.6 ypc.
Agreed it was a pretty good half, but Wisky is a painfully one-dimensional team, who didn't have their only very good target in the passing game.

Prognosticators and fans alike talked about how Wisconsin's style of play could help them out, playing into their hands. Looks like they were right.

I'd characterize it about like if Ohio State had done this next week (if UM had not come back today). Sure it was a good performance, but does it really leave you feeling warm and fuzzy when more balanced and diverse offenses come to town?

And the one bad play of the half "conveniently" occurred on one of the 3 carries Clay actually received in this game. He averaged 16.3 yards per carry and scored a TD. Zach Brown averaged 5.6 yards per carry. I've always said that P.J. Hill was the worst of the 3 Wisconsin running backs. In fact I said he was worse than Lance Smith before he got kicked out of the program, essentially. You contained the running game because UW gave their worst running back the lion's share of the carries. BTW, you're factoring quarterback sacks into the rushing average. Wisconsin's running backs averaged 5.2 yards per carry even with Hill.

You're delusional if you think the Michigan defense looks as good if Wisconsin's coaches aren't arrogant enough, or stupid enough, to believe they can beat any team on the road, sitting their best players (Beckum, Graham, Clay), just because they had minor injuries. Clay and Beckum proved what kind of impact they could have against the Michigan defense when allowed to play.

Only saw the second half of this game - so I missed the scUM futility of the first half but witnessed the Wisky futility of the 2nd half.

Any scUM fans out there that think you can turn the ball over 5 times in the first half to us and only be down 16?

It looks like Wisky's defense is S-L-O-W again this year. We should be able to gash them for some big plays in the spread/option running game.

And, yeah, sell out to stop the run, because Allan Below-Everidge isn't going to beat you.

In fact, if you can stop scUM's running game, which isn't nearly as big a deal, their passing game might even be worse. All they can run is screens and 10 yard stop patterns.

yeah, scUM's defense looked pretty good, what I saw of it, but I don't know why Wisky got so un-Wiskyish on offense in the second half.

Can we just settle on both of your teams sucking? :wink2:

I would hate to see this Board today if JT would have coached plays like the Wisconsin coach did in the second half yesterday. I mean how long can a defense stay on the field. Terrible coaching or should I say playcalling.
