ST. ANDREWS, Scotland (AP) ? Lorena Ochoa shot a 73 Friday to lead by one stroke after the second round of the Women's British Open, while Michelle Wie is heading for another missed cut after shooting an 80.
Ochoa missed a 4-foot par putt at the 18th at the Old Course for 6-under 140 total with Wendy Ward (70) and Catriona Matthew (68) tied for second.
"I am very pleased with my round ? except for three-putting at 18," said Ochoa, who is chasing her first major. "There's nothing I can do about that now. I am just glad that I have the lead."
Wie, who had showed signs she was getting over her left wrist injury with a 73 on Thursday, finished at 7-over 153. The projected cut is at 4 over.
Missing the cut on the first women's professional event to be played at the home of golf would be another blow for the 17-year-old from Hawaii. She missed the Kraft Nabisco with an injury, finished last at the LPGA Championship and withdrew after playing only nine holes of the second round of the U.S. Women's Open after shooting 82 in the first round. Last week, she tied for 69th at the Evian Masters.
She must have re-injured her wrist Friday.
