As much as we trash the guy did anyone really believe he would fall below Owen Schmitt?

Owen Schmitt was the FIFTH leading rusher on WVU this year. He gained less than 300 yards and he was drafted ahead of UMs ALL TIME LEADING RUSHER!

Put that one on a sweatshirt.

I got a better one, the kid from Appalachian State who blocked the kick heard around the world got drafted before Hart!!!!! Who woulda thunk it!!!

Did I enjoy watching the Bucks put the goose egg on Mike Hart? You betcha. What made it so sweet was that twice we shut the guy down and beat them, and twice he had great games and we still beat him. The Bucks didn't beat Joe Schlobodlik and the Slippery Rock Iron Maidens. They beat Mike Hart and the Michigan Wolverines. They beat a team that over that stretch of time put four or five Heisman candidates, Hart among them, on the field. I wish Mike Hart success in the NFL, I admire the talent and courage he displayed on the field and I savor the four times the Bucks beat his ass.

Whining and yelling at your teammates during a game when things aren't going well isn't courageous???

Insert bike joke near here ...

as for his pro career, I fear the beating he took as the go-to guy in the backfield over 4 years leaves little wear left on his tires.

Talk about a tough crowd... Look at the numbers, carrys & receptions. Four 1 thousand yard rushing seasons. Was an excellent blocker despite his size. Look at how the team played without him compared to when he was in the game. Mike Hart was a worthy adversary and I'd rather lift him up and celebrate beating someone with talent and determination than run him down and thus diminish the four victories.

If that ain't enough, think of it this way; when Hart, Henne and Long came back for their senior year, they stated as a main goal getting one more shot at the Buckeyes. Compare that with the 90s language out of Ann Arbor. They left no doubt as to the importance of the rivalry.

Hart's four rushing totals against OSU were

'04: 18-61
'05: 9-15
'06: 23-142
'07: 18-44

It looks to me like he had one very good game, and three games where he did very little.

Hart had a strong first half in 04 and then the Bucks offense forced Michigan to play catch up and they couldn't afford the time to let Hart run in the 2nd half. I'll concede the point.
Not to argue with a conceded point (well, I guess technically it is), but I remember it as two good drives for Hart to start the game, followed by him being pretty well stifled for the remainder. Michigan needing to play catch-up could account for a low rushing total, but it wouldn't seem to account for his low rushing average of under 3.4 ypc. And I think part of the reason Michigan went away from Hart as the game progressed was because he just wasn't getting much done after those first two drives.
