Michael Jackson dies after cardiac arrest

So to play devil's advocate here....take away all of the accusations. Now, how many of you parents would have let your kids go there for a weekend...

If you answered, yes you would, would you have been comfortable if your son came home and told you he slept in the same bed as Jacko?

I think I was the devil's advocate. :wink2:

But to be clear, I wasn't saying he's innocent, just that there's some doubt about what actually happened with those kids.

I already did state that I wouldn't let my kids go to Neverland. Even without the unseemly/disgusting accusations, I don't believe in encouraging the adulation of entertainment figures by my kids.

My own adulation of sports figures is a separate issue. :tongue2:

I always thought that some of you had more class than what you are showing now.

The man was acquitted, and I never believed that he molested those kids, the parents wanted money and they got paid, true he was strange, but you try working grown man hours since the age of 6 being beaten and abused and see how "normal" you turn out.

I guess its just easier to be edgy[read cowardly douchebags] on the internet huh?

You forget that a family lost someone, 3 kids lost their dad but you dare to demean him now in defense of a child? hypocritical much?

Stay classy Buckeyes.

So was OJ.

Your emotional outburst here does little to further your "stay classy" jabs. However, we will all scoot right over so another pea can fit right in the pod.

I'm sure you have the intelligence to discuss your point of view with the 'classy' namecalling, right?

Jackson himself testified that a number of children unrelated to him had slept in his bed with him. Regardless of what may or may not have ensued, regardless of any dollar signs that may or may not have flashed before people's eyes, the very best that can be said is that this sort of behavior is 100% completely and utterly inappropriate. I'm not sure how one can continue to think well of someone in those circumstances.

It's more than a little disturbing to think that the weirdness surrounding Jackson growing up may have been a contributing factor in his own inappropriate behavior, but that doesn't excuse it, it just spreads the blame that much wider.

Please. "Innocent" people don't toss $27M (or whatever it was) to shut up his accusers instead of going to trial and clearing his name. They don't have minute details corraborated by multiple sources. They don't continue to make the same foolish choices after paying all that money. Maybe what he became was a result of his horrific upbringing, but that doesn't excuse it. He was found "not guilty" by the American justice system, but he's now being judged by the "all seeing" judge...if you chose to believe.

Just checking, but did the 'stay classy' phrase really bother you more than the 'cowardly douchebags' phrase?

I'd like to take a shot at why an innocent man's legal council would reccommend paying $27M to make it all go away. Does anyone here really think "Wacko Jacko" could've gotten a fair trial in the U.S.? Everyone just knew he was guilty as soon as the accusations came out. I'm not saying he didn't do it...I am saying that if he really was innocent, I really don't think it would've mattered in front of a jury.

Now...paying thirty million and then having kids over to spend the night again...just screams he loved him some boysicles.

Well, he was found not guilty the second time when I think his image was tainted even further...

All I said was that as a talent he was more than matched by others -- Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Ben Vereen, -- and yet the TV news folks are acting as if this a Kennedy Assassination/(real) Moon Walk/9/11 story.

It's Princess Di level coverage: class A coverage on a Class B or C story.

I opposed it then and I oppose it now.

I fully believe he was a pedo, but...

If you had as much money as he did, and knew you could pay $20 million to eliminate any chance of jail time, why wouldn't you do it? The dude [censored]ed money away left and right. He was supposedly $400 million in debt and still lived in a $100k/month house. Money wasn't a problem.
