PLANO, Texas (AP) -- Former Dallas Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin was charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia after police searched his vehicle during a traffic stop, Plano police said Sunday.
Irvin, a semifinalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for speeding in Irving after being pulled over Friday afternoon for speeding in Plano, the Plano Police Department said. Police spokesman Mike Johnson said he didn't know what kind of paraphernalia was found.
Irvin paid a fine on the speeding ticket and posted bond on the drug paraphernalia possession charge. He was released about an hour after he was pulled over.
Irvin, a member of three Super Bowl championship teams with the Cowboys, retired in July 2000 and works as a studio analyst for ESPN.
An ESPN spokesman had no immediate comment. In 1996, Irvin pleaded no contest to felony cocaine possession in exchange for four years of deferred probation, a $10,000 fine and dismissal of misdemeanor marijuana possession charges. Irvin holds Cowboys records for catches (750), receiving yards (11,904) and 100-yard games (47), including a team-record seven in a row in 1991.

I would bet that ESPN will cut him loose pretty quick....:wink2:

Why would they? Their college analysts are a fucking who's who of the NCAA major infraction database so you can't really say ESPN has morals as far as its on air talent is concerned.

They are notorius for the shock jock schtick a la Steven A Smith, Trev and Mark etc etc so its not like they are adverse to getting attention for bad reasons.

Fuck when you think about it they will probably give the slimy drug addict his own show. I could definitly see a sportscentury for the worthless cocksucker...Top five reasons why you can't really blame michael irvin for being a repeat criminal offender.

I love that he was arrested while speeding, had an outstanding warrant on him for speeding and the drug paraphernalia on him. Wouldn't it be great if the Hall of Fame says 'No' to him because of this but ESPN keeps him.

You have to wonder what Tom Jackson would think if they bring this clown back to the NFL Countdown set.

I watched Sportscenter and barely was able to keep from drinking a gallon of hemlock (which I would have definitely done had I watched the Jest/Saints game). Stuart Scott, my personal favorite (sarcasm), did a 15 minute poetry-somedamnthing about Chad Johnson, then looked straight into the camera, reported MI had been arrested, made about 10 excuses for him, and said he would keep working at ESPN.
