Michael Irvin (official thread)

This appears to be a situation with possibilities:

1. Irvin is a sleazeball and is guilty

2. The woman is an opportunistic slut, and Irvin did nothing wrong

3. Irvin is a sleazeball AND the woman is an opportunistic slut

4. Neither of the above.

I'm not sure which of the above is the most accurate, but I'm not betting on #4.

Defamation suit in 3...2...

Michael Irvin, accused of rape in a civil suit filed Thursday in Broward Circuit Court, has filed a $100 million countersuit.

The suit, filed in Dallas County, Texas, asks for $100 million due to the allegations filed in a lawsuit that claim Irvin, the former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver and Pro Football Hall of Fame member, raped a woman identified as "Jane Doe" at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla., in 2007.

Irvin
No criminal charges have been filed. The Broward State Attorney's Office has been investigating the case and a spokesman told the Miami Herald he expects a conclusion next week. The Herald first reported the story late Thursday.

Irvin, currently in South Florida for the Super Bowl, had hosted a talk show on ESPN Radio 103.3 in Dallas and works as a television analyst for the NFL Network. He no longer works for ESPN Radio 103.3, but a spokesman said Friday he will be on the air this weekend for the NFL Network.

"His contract was up and the show has not performed," ESPN said in a statement released Friday. "We had previously decided to cancel the show and determined this morning to make it effective today. The permanent replacement begins at 11 a.m. CT [Friday] -- Ben Rogers and Jeff "Skin" Wade ["Ben and Skin"].".........

"We determined this morning [after hearing that he'd gang raped someone] to make it effective today." Just a coinkydink.

What a dumbass. I'm going to sue you for $100 million for defamation. Shut the fcuk up. Even if he proved that she made it up (liability), he's still got to prove damages. Hmm, yeah, sterling character until this accusation brought his world caving in around him.

Irvin has been charged with rape in a civil suit. There are no criminal charges at this point.

The last woman who accused him of rape (Nina Shahravan) was convicted of perjury and last seen fighting deportation back to Iran. I doubt he raped this one, either, but he's got other issues.

Helluva a ball player in his day, but drugs and infidelity have been a part of him for years. :ohwell:

NFL Network Drops Michael Irvin, Long-Running Popular Show

Michael Irvin will no longer work at NFL Network as he was part of the company's layoffs on Friday, The Athletic's Andrew Marchand reported. Irvin first joined the network as an analyst in 2009.

Irvin was suspended by the NFL Network in Feb. 2023 after a woman accused him of improper behavior at a hotel during the Super Bowl in Arizona. Irvin then sued the woman and the Marriott hotel he was staying at, and the $100 million defamation suit was settled in September, allowing him to return to the network.
