Miami Heat (3x NBA Champions)

Bitter much?

Hate him if you want, but the guy is good at his job. Beasley, at the time of the draft, was viewed as a potential #1 overall pick and the consensus best player in the draft not named Derrick Rose. The fact that he turned out to be a bust was just unfortunate for Miami. As far as being a cheapskate, and building cap space to sign other All Star players, well, that's called being a businessman. They may have had a few down years, but he worked his way into bringing the 2-time league MVP, along with another All Star PF, to join his own elite SG in Wade. His job is to get the best players he can on the team so that they have a competitive advantage over the other teams in the league, and that's exactly what he did.

With all that said, [censored] the Miami Heat. I hope they never win an NBA title and that LeBron James goes down as the biggest disappointment in NBA history.

Mother fucker lucked out that he had the player with loyalty stones AND that Lebron and Bosh played in towns they didn't like. Period. Nothing more. Fuck him.

Out of curiosity, what would you deem success for this Heat team for season 1?

1. making the playoffs
2. making the conference final
3. making the finals
4. winning the finals

at the start of the season, i thought just making the ECF would be considered a success for this team. Considering they had practically no bench and there were going to be growing pains as 2.5 superstars tried to figure out how to play together.

being 1 win away from the finals now, I would have to say NOT winning it all would probably be a let down, BUT, would certainly be considered a success after the way the season started.

what say you? And we all know the first line will be "fuck lebron and the heat, success would be the building collapsing on them." So just skip that part and go on to the second line....

If you are going to dump on Cleveland in such a conceited and vindictive way, you better do better than you did with that team.

Anything short of a title will not be a successful year, and losing in the ECF certainly would fall short of that.

You're way overstating their "problems" and way underestimating the power of having two superstars and one all-star on the floor in a game where each team only has five players on the floor at once. If they don't win it all in 3 of the next 4 years, I'd say it's a disappointment.

This. I'll add to that as well. Anything short of a title this year, and LeBron will be plagued with the fact that he can't win on the big stage. I don't see the Heat being able to slow down Dallas this season. Call me crazy. But I see Chandler and Dirk giving Miami big's fits for days.

assuming Miami can finish off Chicago, i'm sure they were hoping and praying for OKC to make a comeback and knock off Dallas. If they do go to the Finals and beat Dirk and that crew, then they earned it, that's for sure. Dallas is as complete a team as you can get. Depth, size, speed.......look out.

Lebron said "it's going to be easy" and guaranteed around 8 titles. So I have no idea how anyone can say anything but a championship is successful. To his credit, he'd say the same thing.

Marion is going to drive LeBron nuts. I've always been a fan of his.

MIAMI (AP)—For Mike Miller(notes), this Miami Heat playoff run is coming at a personally trying time.
Miller’s newborn daughter Jaelyn remains in the intensive care unit of a South Florida hospital because of complications, her condition closely and constantly monitored by doctors. Miller accompanied the Heat on their flight to Chicago for Thursday night’s Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals, acknowledging that it would be difficult to keep his emotions in check.

“Obviously, I haven’t been away from her,” Miller said Wednesday afternoon after Miami went through a light workout. “I was there until 4 o’clock again this morning. That’ll be the hard part, when you’re away and having to make decisions while you’re away. That makes it difficult.”
Jaelyn was born between Games 2 and 3 of the East finals. Miller has not missed either game since she was born, and told reporters on Tuesday night— after perhaps one of his best games with the Heat—that his daughter is “a fighter.”.
“She’s doing good right now,” Miller said Wednesday. “And hopefully she’ll continue to do better.”
Miller had 12 points off the bench in Miami’s win over Chicago in Game 4, and the Heat outscored the Bulls by a staggering 36 points with him in the game. The Heat lead the best-of-seven series 3-1.
Miller had a tough season with Miami, breaking the thumb on his shooting hand during the preseason, then dealing with an array of other injuries as the year went along.
“This puts things in perspective,” Miller said. “You take things for granted. Makes my thumb injuries a lot less important, for sure.”
Udonis Haslem(notes), Miller’s closest friend on the Heat and his former teammate with the Florida Gators, said he went through a similar situation when his son was born and needed to be in an ICU unit for several days earlier this season.
Haslem said Wednesday that Miller is handling things as well as can be expected.
“He’s always been a family-oriented guy,” Haslem said.
The situation also hit particularly close to home for center Zydrunas Ilgauskas(notes). He and his wife were expecting twins in 2007, when complications arose and both babies were lost after being born four months premature.
“He has a lot on his mind,” Ilgauskas said. “You just try to be a good friend right now. He’s one of the toughest individuals I’ve ever been around. He’s worked so hard, he’s just a blue-collar guy who comes to play every day. But this, this is life.”
