Miami (FL) Hurricanes (1926-2003)

I LOVE Brian Hartline, but I don't understand why a big name program would hire him as OC. (I don't understand why Miami would do it, either.). He is the best WR coach in the business, but I think we've seen from Kerry Coombs that being a badass position coach doesn't mean you'll be a good (or even passable) coordinator.

NGL tho; "up north" we were all real disappointed that Brian decided not to ship up to Cincy. I think you might be underestimating how obvious it is to pretty much everyone that Hartline looks like a HC in the making, and is probably due a promotion real soon. If not at OSU, then someplace else eventually. I wouldn't be surprised if someplace down the line, he's running your whole program. No sarcasm, the guy can coach.

Cormani McClain flip trending from Miami football to Colorado

Ahead of his second commitment date on Sunday, five-star cornerback Cormani McClain is projected to flip from the Miami football program to Colorado. McClain committed to Miami on October 27 after being heavily projected to commit to Florida. The McClain recruitment has been mercurial.

McClain has reiterated his commitment to Miami in the 2.5 months since he pledged to the Hurricanes. The recruitment of McClain has been tough to measure by national experts. McClain is not active on social media and does not often speak to reporters. McClain did not show up to his national signing day ceremony last month.

A few hours before the ceremony was scheduled McClain’s mother posted to Twitter he would not be signing an NLI on Early National Signing Day. Speculation has been rampant about where McClain would sign since then. The drama surrounding McClain reportedly centers around Name, Image and Likeness and coaching.

NIL is becoming the sole factor in recruiting for several high profiles prospects in the class of 2023. This is the first class that will have been recruited for over a year since NIL was instituted on July 1, 2021. McClain also reportedly wanted Defensive Analyst DeMarcus Van Dyke promoted to an on-field role for him to sign with Miami.

Re: McClain's On3 NIL value = $379K

The Buffs4Life NIL Collective just got started last Oct; I'll say Colorado just went "all in" for McClain on NIL money......:cash:

A lot of these kids are from desperately poor backgrounds that a lot of us just can’t relate to. My only wish is that they get the money they are being promised and manage to keep most of it.

Schools should be helping these guys learn how to manage money if they care half as much as they act like they do about the kids.

To boot, most of these kids are never going to play in the NFL. Even at an NFL factory like Bama or OSU, a ton of the kids never even sniff the NFL. Recognizing that, I don’t blame any of them for cashing in for as much as they can while they can.

I don’t begrudge anyone going after what they can get in any walk of life.

There is always the crowd that does though.

A number of schools are doing that. And some offering credit hours for those classes as well. But many of these kids have agents, accountants, etc, they are essentially pro athletes on college campuses

Good to know. Hope they take advantage and educate themselves.

Hiring professionals to help is a good thing but you still have to be in charge and know what's going on.

I bet they are collecting a nice fee while that happens in the meantime. They probably should have already had those courses so they know how to deal with agents who might be the worst part about the whole deal

Naw, no reason to have the classes when the kids weren’t supposedly being paid before. Now that it’s out in the open, the classes are provided
