Unshackled: Saturday marks end of Miami’s NCAA probation

The dark cloud that was Nevin Shapiro has officially lifted and is now a thing of the past.

As pointed out by the Orlando Sentinel, today marks the end of Miami’s three-year probation handed down in the wake of the Shapiro impermissible benefits controversy. The U had self-imposed a bowl ban on its football program that ended after two years in 2013. It was the three scholarships that were stripped from the football program in each of the 2014, 2015 and 2016 seasons, though, that impacted the football program the most.

THIS LOOKS LIKE HELL ON EARTH. I don't know where this is from, probably whatever second-tier bowl that's hosting a second-tier team like the Miami Hurricanes.

Look how awkward that is. Players standing around for the media while cartoon characters twerk.

No wonder tensions flared at a charity function later in the day.

Tension flares between Miami, West Virginia players at Russell Athletic Bowl event

They were there for a charity function, so it’s good the verbal jabs between Miami and West Virginia players Monday didn’t escalate to a physical level.

Several Mountaineers, wearing their navy blue game jerseys, and a few orange-clad Hurricanes had to be separated on at least two occasions as they mouthed off to one another in Kissimmee on Monday, two days before the Russell Athletic Bowl in Orlando.

Just another case of the 'Canes being the 'Canes.

I remember the last time Miami played a bowl in Orlando in 2013. The poor snowflakes were huddled around heaters on the sidelines and lost to Louisville by 4 touchdowns.

To be fair to them, in Florida 50 degrees can feel like you are freezing because it can be so damp. I don't know about needing space heaters  but the humidity can make it feel colder than the thermometer says.

I was born in Ohio but did most of my growing up (or older at least) in Rochester NY. I did 4 years in Ft Riley KS in the Army. I am no stranger to the cold, it doesn't bother me and I prefer it to the heat. All that said to illustrate the point that I thought I was just getting soft from being in Florida too long when I found myself wondering why I felt so cold in the "winters" of North Florida. It took me moving back up north to realize it has to be the humidity down there that does it. 50 is nothing to me again up here. I guess it would be like going outside slightly wet with temps in the 50's up here. It isn't all that comfortable.

Don't get me wrong, fuck those bitches forever. Just a PSA for Northerners.
