Miami athletic director Kirby Hocutt returned Wednesday after two days in New York discussing the vacant UM coaching job with prospective candidates.
Among the coaches who have spoken to UM about the job are Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen, Connecticut coach Randy Edsall and Texas Tech coach Tommy Tuberville.

According to a UM source, Hocutt also plans to speak with Nebraska coach Bo Pelini, who was granted permission by Nebraska to pursue the job. According to another source, Pelini has shown mixed signals, at some points expressing interest and at other points conveying reservations.
Pelini, who will be 43 next week, is considered one of the most coveted young coaches in college football. He took over Nebraska in 2008 and has posted seasons of 9-4 and 10-4 with bowl victories over Arizona and Clemson, respectively. The Bowl Championship Series No. 18 Cornhuskers are 10-3 with a berth in the Holiday Bowl on Dec. 30 against Washington.

I'm thinking the "UM source" is full of [censored].

Citing an anonymous source, the Miami Herald reported Wednesday night that Miami athletic director Kirby Hocutt plans to speak with Pelini.

"I don't address rumor and innuendo," said Pelini, adding that he plans to be on the road recruiting for Nebraska on Thursday.

Nebraska athletic director Tom Osborne was surprised Wednesday night upon hearing about the Herald's report.

"Bo's never talked to me about anything like that," Osborne said. "If he got permission (to talk to Miami), he didn't get it from me."

Pelini said he didn't seek such permission from anyone.

The comments on that story are precious. ThugU fans are hands-down the worst in College Football. One of the mouth-breathers even counted 2002 as a championship year. "Hey, dipshit, the hardware is in Columbus no matter how hard you cry"

Favorite quote:

"We don't want Pelini. You can keep him. He's as over rated as Urban Meyer was."

Just like Florida and Muschamp, Miami's new coach didn't have to make a decision about staying on the old job for a bowl game.

But Temple went 8-4, they just got left out.

That's really odd, given all the talk about how the bowls might have to take major-conference teams with losing records (which would require some sort of rules variance as I understand it). I feel really bad for Temple fans - no bowl, lose the only good coach they're likely to be able to attract.
