Thanks for the link, as my info came from my buddy who's a Cane backer. Needless to say, the fan base isn't the happiest with the hire...

Don't tell me the fanbase wanted to hire Uncle Luke for the job, :slappy::slappy::slappy::

The U boot: Uncle Luke steps into minor NCAA no-no

Thanks to NCAA sanctions stemming from the illicit activities of a former booster-turned-current felon, and the fact that they’re on probation until 2016, Miami is especially sensitive when it comes to anything, big or small, that could be considered a violation of Association bylaws.

Friday, one of the most visible UM boosters witnessed firsthand just how sensitive The U remains.

Yesterday afternoon, Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell, founder of the rap group “2 Live Crew,” tweeted that he had been kicked out of The U football building by athletic department officials after a recruit who was on an official visit asked to get a picture taken with Campbell. Campbell further claimed that he had been “barred” from the campus.

Time for a bounty on Donna Shalala?

Just sayin': In 2015, Shalala was brought in to head the Clinton Foundation. According to the New York Times, Chelsea Clinton helped persuade Shalala to leave the Miami position, move to New York and head the foundation.

She fell ill after leaving a September 2015 Clinton Global Initiative event held at the Sheraton New York hotel, according to a foundation statement, which was diagnosed as a stroke.

I'm nowhere near being tuned into the views of the Miami fan cluster, but I would've thought Richt would be viewed as a pretty decent hire for them.
Yeah, you would think so, and a team the caliber of Miami should be glad to have him. And he's everything that @MaxBuck stated, and that's the problem. Miami is a smug fan base that still lives in the past, and they have a smug view of their alum, in saying a certain guy is a school X guy. In this case Miami fans wanted a Miami man for the job. And that was down to 2 names, Butch Davis and Mario Cristobal. So even though Richt is a Miami alum, he wasn't considered a true Miami man(whatever the hell that means). This is coming from my buddy and him talking to a number of Miami alum and former players. Richt is seen as the safe hire, which they should be happy with! Butch was considered as a third option at best after Schiano by the administration who's scared shit less to go through sanctions again, the last thing they wanted was a coach who left a program among sanctions, let alone 2 of them. Cristobal was barely considered, which also infuriated the fan base. You can't please everyone, their fan base is a bunch of idiots who deserves to remain insignificant in their own state

Richt better step his recruiting game up also. If he had problems recruiting GA, he has to worry about even more schools poaching recruits from his own backyard in Miami and a fan base that isnt close to as sports friendly as UGA

From what I've heard, Golden is such an unlikeable asshole that he essentially chased recruits away. In Miami, I'm not sure one really needs to "step up the recruiting game" so much as just not get in the way of talented southeast Florida kids who really want to go there.

Actually you're a little off. Golden was a very very good recruiter! Getting Kaaya was huge, as was getting players like Stacy Coley, Duke Johnson, Joe Yearby, Mark Walton, Tracy Howard, Deon Bush, he had about 4 1st round draft picks last year as well. But he can't get lineman on either side of the ball. Miami had the #1 class in 2016 through the spring and some of the summer and has a top 3 or 5 2017 class, Golden was actually a very good recruiter, but he was bad at Xs and Os and stubborn in being loyal to his staff.
And recruiting South Fl is much harder now with the Internet, social media and camps. Back in the day, Miami coaches could keep kids at home because many hadn't been far from home. Now, top kids travel the country without a care. And Jimbo has FSU stealing kids left and right, and McIlwein is also doing the same at UF, not to mention schools like Bama, Auburn and Clemson pluck top kids constantly as do most of the SEC now. And throw in northern schools like West VA, OSU, etc who can go after the kids who want to leave the region. Keeping South FL talent is very hard to do nowadays, heck Richt snatched a number of South FL kids for UGA!
