Miami (FL) Hurricanes (1926-2003)

It's actually par for the course.
Florida is loaded with talent, but is recruited nationally and 3 "big" schools there. Florida, FSU, and Miami basically trade spots every couple years between whose up/down... and anytime the last two are doing well there's a rotten stench surrounding them.

Problem is, it seems like the stench from Miami has lasted over a decade at this point, longer than the others have been down. And it's looking like they may fall into a category similar to schools who are middle of the road and get happy over a big win each season but barely get 7-8 wins. It's crazy with the amount of talent literally in their backyard. Kaaya, Johnson, Coley, Waters and Watford, even with an average line are good for 8-9 wins with an above average coach. Their defense isn't terrible, just poorly coached. If OsU fans worry about our DLine and DBs, watch part of a Miami game, and you'll feel a lot better. And it's funny since OsU has mostly Ohio players(and supposedly are slow and plodding) and Miami has mostly hometown talent(speedsters who were born and bred to play football), and it wouldn't be close if we played.

The stench I'm referring to isn't being bad... it's what you see at FSU right now. Whatever they do or don't do will be tarnished in a lot of people's minds b/c of the way they've done it.
Anytime Miami and FSU are doing well you can generally bet there's massive flouting of rules involved and probably criminal activity.

If at least Golden wasn't fired most of the defensive staff should've been. With the talent in South Florida alone, Miami shouldn't fall below 9 wins a year. But they're too cheap to hire a top flight coach, it says something that they ended up with a coach from Temple and we got a 2 time NC coach for OSU after both teams came off of disappointing seasons.
There is a reason why each school got who they got. Ohio State is able to pay for a top flight coach. Miami still goes cheap and that's why they got Golden and their last head coach. Ohio State got a guy who is from Ohio. Miami got a pedo state alum who tried to leave miami and was turned down. Ohio State has the fans, the money, and the name. Miami has empty stadiums, stingy with their money, and living off their past. I enjoyed watching The U 30 for 30. But they will never be a dominant team.

One of my best friends from college is a Miami fan(that's how I unfortunately know so much about their team) and I tell him that exact info constantly. But he's brainwashed into thinking its still 2001 or the 80s. Testaverde, Toretta and Dorsey ain't walking through the doors anytime soon, and nor is Butch Davis(though every fan keeps screaming for him to come back).
