Miami (FL) Hurricanes (1926-2003)

That small amount would barely buy one player in the SEC. Move along, nothing to see here.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- The NCAA is alleging that former Miami booster Nevin Shapiro was responsible for providing about $170,000 in impermissible benefits to Hurricanes athletes, recruits, coaches and others between 2002 and 2010.

[Auburn]Fuck that weak shit...we paid more than that on one fucking player. Bitches.[/Auburn]

NCAA alleges Miami ignored Nevin Shapiro Acts, report says - ESPN

The NCAA is alleging that some Miami officials essentially looked the other way when presented with evidence of booster Nevin Shapiro's wrongdoing -- the heart of the lack of the "institutional control" charge, the person told The Associated Press on Friday. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because specifics related to that part of the notice of allegations against the Hurricanes have not been publicly revealed.

The NCAA, according to the person, has asked Miami to detail whether or not it hired a private investigator to look into Shapiro's business dealings between 2002 and 2005, has requested records of a meeting between at least one athletics department official and Shapiro in 2003, and wants the findings of a study the school conducted with regard to Shapiro in 2006.

What a fiasco this turned out to be in every possible way. Miami's arrogance is appalling, even despite what they could be facing in terms of penalties, yet the NCAA's investigation is even worse. They had no problem bringing the hammer down on other programs, yet have found every possible way to mess this one up. Absolutely pathetic behavior from both sides.

I don't think miami is being arrogant at all. If the ncaa used improper ways to receive information, they should be held accountable just like a school or any citizen should. Miami has a valid argument to defend against the ncaa. This whole thing with miami has taken way too long, but miami shouldn't have to just sit back and take their punishment if the ncaa used illegal ways to obtain information

I was referring more to there attitude when these allegations first came to light. They were extremely combative from the start. I agree with there sentiment now though in regards to the NCAA's handling of the investigation. Just a shame that the NCAA had no problems bringing the hammer down on other programs, but somehow completely mismanaged one of the biggest scandals yet.

Cryami was as arrogant about the allegations as U$C was when the Bush stuff came to light.

It doesn't excuse the NCAA, but let's not act like Cryami is innocent in any way, shape or form here.

I'm not saying miami is innocent by any means but the ncaa needs to use the proper methods to prove their wrongdoing. Miami going after the ncaa and its own pompousness makes complete sense and they have every right to. Miami may have been arrogant in denying the charges, but what athletic department has ever openly admitted their transgressions? They were wrong yes, the ncaa had a job to prove their wrongdoing by following the laws, they didn't and now have been called out on it and it may start the demise of the ncaa for football in college. If anything we should all be rejoicing that the ncaa may no longer exist. We may finally get a true governing body with set laws
