Buckyle is tired. He holds a bar down 5 days a week, which is exhausting. The bar top can get heavy, and when gravity falls asleep, you need both elbows to hold that bar down. It can wear a guy out. Rest up, Buckyle...

Yikes, good point. I had wondered about how good Florida A&M was and when I started googling it after reading the above quote, I found that Wikipedia says that Florida A&M is in Division I-AA.

Whew! I was beginning to get slightly nervous before realizing this.

I was kind of suprised because I know that Florida A&M was where the great Bob Hayes played football.

I don't believe it is widely recognized that Floriday A&M is in division II, and the beauty of it is that it helps Ohio State by tempering the hype and expectation for a victory over Miami.

It's not widely recognized because Florida A&M ISN'T in Division II, but they are in Division I-AA.

Does Jacory Harris handle pressure better? This will be the biggest question for the game, IMO. If he does not, this one could get ugly.

At the risk of sounding like a "U" fan, they are a very athletic team and are capable of being explosive at times. All due respect, I still like our chances.

Our D-line against their O-line will be our biggest advantage in this game I feel. If we really cause problems in their backfield, then I don't see them scoring too many points. In Miami's first game, the O-line didn't need to do anything special at all. It all was way to easy. Not to mention how terrible the secondary they were playing against was. Marshall's defense, although not nearly as good as what we will see against Miami, was definitely a lot better than Florida A&M, but the Buckeyes handled it just as easy as Miami handled their FCS defense.

On the flipside, this is going to be a huge test for our O-line. Everybody has spoken about how they have come together and looked great down the stretch in 2009, and they obviously looked solid against Marshall. But Miami's D-line is under-rated. I still think our line can step up and shine in this one and prove that they are one of the most elite lines in the country.

The more I think about it, the more I think this game could get ugly. I can see Miami struggling on offense, and turning the ball over quite a bit. On the flip side I see things working for our offense. Add in the game being in The Shoe, and if our O is on a roll early, this game could be over in the 3rd quarter.

I'm going with Ohio State 31 Miami 13.

Couple of other points to consider with this opening line;

-contrary to popular belief sportsbooks do not mind lopsided action as long as they think they are on the right side of it.

-lines are not meant to educate the public on the books view of who is the better team. It is either meant to split the public or give the books the number they want to be on the opposite side of lopsided action.

-OSU is a team like the Yankees and Cowboys where the fanbase is so large and bets their team so heavily it has to be factored into their lines. Especially in a premier matchup.

What that tells me is that they know they are going to get lopsided action on OSU. Therefore if they opened it any lower than 9.5 they would be left holding a very lopsided position in which they'd need Miami to stay within at least a touchdown to make money. So to continue the logic chain, the books obviously feel a line of anything lower than 10 is going to be hammered by the public AND they don't want to be on the other side of it. This also had to be confirmed by sharp action on the float or the opening line would have come out lower.

Now, I am no expert I could be misreading this. Also, the books do make mistakes or there would be no sports betting market. That said, keep an eye on the line movement and volume this week. If the public is over 60% to OSU and the line drops we have a problem, if it goes normally the volume will be heavy to OSU and the line will continue to go up.

I agree completely with the comment about our D-line but for the O-line? This line has already proved it can overcome most anything that football can throw at them. But with the offense it usually takes at least a quarter of the game to get going. But once the offense gets going it's going to be tough for Miami to stop em'.

This game is going to come down to with offensive line plays the best. Both OSU/UM have good to great dline play, and whoever can protect their star QB's the best and open running lanes will win this game.

Our Dline vs their Oline is not a good matchup for the hurricanes where as our Oline vs their Dline isn't that bad maybe a draw?

I'm going to say OSU 27-UM-17

Pryor will play stellar but won't be lights out. He'll go for 200 yards passing with 2 scores, 1 INT. Our running game will go for around 150 with a score as well.

I just don't see Miami being able to run the ball consistantly where as we'll have our moments. I do however can see Harris having a bigger game than Pryor but only because they're losing and have to throw more combined with no threat of a running game.

This year is the year of symbols.

My prediction for Marshall was that we'd get the same # of points against Marshall as we did against Texas Tech. We got 45 (admittedly, I thought we had 42, but only said we'd score the same as against TT).

Against Miami, we will do the same. We will score 31 points. However, we won't need overtime ;-)

31-17. 31-10 leading into garbage time. OSU comes out and hammers them 14-0 and Miami gets 7 from desperation. We then put the criminals down in an act of kindness.

Kinda happy with my Marshall prediction, overall. I was right about a few things.

Right:
- Scored the same # of points against Marshall as we did against Texas Tech in '02 (45pts. I predicted 42-10, but saw the wrong box score that said 42, initially)
- Our first drive. 4 plays (3 pass, 1 run) for a TD strike
- We would show our stable of RBs (Saine, Herron, Berry, Hyde, Hall)
- Had a vanilla offense that still burned them

Wrong:
- About when Marshall scored the TD (thought it'd be in garbage time)
- That we'd score just 28pts in the first half. We scored 35 at the very end on the INT
- Kenny Guiton didn't throw for a TD :-(
