sorry to step on BB73's toes here.....but for once I'd like to engage a Miami fan about this "worst call in the history of life".
#1 - Why does the ref who is ruling incomplete get to be the one who is "correct", while the ref who is looking for a flag get to be the one who ruined your night?
#2 - How sure are you that the ref who is ruling the pass incomplete isn't doing his job of determining whether the pass was caught or not, while my buddy Terry Porter is doing his job of determining if there is any contact (spoiler alert: there was)?
#3 - Let's pretend for 1 second that it was a bad call (even though it wasn't). Since we are going back in time and correcting such an egregious error......I think it's only fair to go back in time and correct the egregious errors that led to overtime. For example:
------------3rd and whatever while Ohio State is killing clock; Chris Gamble is held so obviously that his jersey is almost ripped completely off of his body. No call. The correct call of holding would give Ohio State a first down and allowed them to kill the clock in regulation. Ohio State wins.
------------3rd and whatever while Ohio State is killing clock; OMG it's the same play! 2 horrible calls on the same play? Say it aint so! Despite having his jersey removed from his body, HE STILL CAUGHT THE DAMN BALL! The correct call of a catch gives Ohio State a first down and allows them to kill the clock in regulation. Ohio State wins.
------------4th and whatever, Ohio State punts; Miami returns it into field goal range with plenty of time on the clock to score a TD if they were as good as they all thought they were......yet, as they did all night, they tripped over their own 2 feet and settled for the game tying FG. Except......on the punt return AJ Hawk is clearly blocked in the back. The correct call puts Miami all the way back near their own 30 or 20 yard line, NOT in FG range. With the correct call Miami trips over their own 2 feet somewhere near their own 35 and the game ends. Ohio State wins.
So. Feel free to address any of those points. Make one note though......my points aren't subjective. They are facts proven with video tape. Yours is an opinion that the PI in the endzone was a bad call.
Apologies for approximations like "3rd and whatever" and "30 or 20 yard line". These are just off the top of my head.
EDIT: On second thought......don't answer, because there is no answer for it. The call was right, and if you want to change it you have to change any one of the 3 blown calls that almost cost Ohio State the game. Except Ohio State got over it and did something about it on the field.
I'm sorry for the mixed message, as BB73 was right to begin with. Don't respond to this post. I'll just leave it up for the idiot Miami fans who still don't have a grasp on reality to try and digest, although everybody knows they won't be able to.
