Men's Basketball Polls (AP, USA Today)

What the hell is that? No Buckeyes ? That's crazy.

I could see them putting the Bucks in the 20-25 range (since we lost a lot to the NBA draft), but completely out of the top 25? Come on.

Duke and Oregon both seem high to me
Complete the analogy...

Duke : Basketball Polls :: ____ : Football Polls

:wink:

BTW, I do agree the Bucks should be in the 20-25 range but I can understand why some voters would leave them off their list. I think the Bucks can go 2-1 against North Carolina, Florida, and Tennessee and would earn them a good amount of "respect" before the Big10 season starts.

Actually, 65 votes is a lot of respect for a team that's replacing as much as we are. I'd say those are all "faith in Matta" votes. Even with full scarlet-colored glasses on, it's hard to rank this team too deep into the top 20. Lots of teams brought back a ton of proven talent. The Bucks have plenty of time to earn a higher ranking.
Agreed.

Not really. We lost the #1 pick in the draft, arguably the best player in the NCAA tourney, our 6th man, and don't return a whole lot of proven players aside from Jamar. I'd say those 65 votes are generous and a reflection on Thad's coaching abilities. Like 40 said, preseason polls mean precisely squat in cbb. I'd say the media is taking a wait-and-see approach with the Bucks, and rightly so.

No worries, the back to back Big 10 Champs will be in the hunt again this year.

Definitely. Preseason Top 25 for BBall doesn't mean anything....and really the regular season Top 25 doesn't mean anything either.

Interesting how a team like Texas A/M can be ranked 15, yet are paying 3000 more than OSU on the money line. I think Vegas should do the rankings over writers.

Thats the thing about Vegas betting odds. They are set by determining what odds will get the greatest number of bets on both sides of the line/spread(not who they think will win or what they are ranked).The bookies in the cayman islands start the odds off and get a feel for the betting within the first hour and make necessary adjustments to their lines/spreads. Vegas then makes their initial odds for the day and gets initial feedback within the first hour or so and continuous monitors the Caymans and the offshore gambling to finally come to odds that again receive equal bets on both sides)

Question: Does anyone know if an unranked team at the beginning of the season has ever went on to win the NCAA Tournament?
