Maurice and the Combine (MERGED)

BuckinMichigan said:
Seriously, MoC is going to work out on April Fool's Day. He is going to work out in Youngstown (I think at Mili's old house) on that day because Charlie Frye is having his pro day at Akron on the 1st. MoC's lawyers are then going to bus the scouts to Youngstown.

Who thinks the media will outnumber the scouts? ME

Okay, let's get some good jokes going here because of his workout day.
Why? They could walk to Yompton before he finishes.

Clarett needs strong personal workout

<!-- nb tables --><!-- begin text11 div --> <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"> <tbody> <tr> <td valign="top"><!-- begin leftcol --><!-- template inline --> Maurice Clarett, who was hoping to be a Buckeye-for-a-day next week, has been barred from Ohio State's "Pro Day" workouts on March 9.

Clarett ran two inferior 40-yard dashes at the NFL combine and preferred to run again for pro scouts next week in Columbus, alongside several of his former college teammates. But, according to one of Clarett's agents, Josh Luchs, Ohio State nixed it because Clarett is no longer enrolled at the school and hasn't played for the Buckeyes within the last year.

"I spoke with Steve Snapp," Luchs said, referring to the Ohio State sports information director, "and he said they would not allow Maurice to participate, because, first and foremost, he does not meet their criteria. And then he said, 'Look, we wish him well, but we also feel it would be a distraction for the other players who are trying to showcase their talents for NFL teams.' Well, the last thing Maurice wants to do is be a detriment to the other players. Out of respect to them, we accept and understand their position, and are going to do it elsewhere."

Snapp had not returned telephone messages as of Thursday afternoon.

Under the NFL's guidelines, players can either work out for pro scouts at their college or in their hometown. As a result of the Ohio State decision, Clarett likely will work out in the greater Youngstown area, where he grew up, possibly on April 1. That day, quarterback Charlie Frye is scheduled to work out for NFL personnel at the University of Akron, and, after that workout, Clarett's agents, Steve Feldman and Luchs, intend to bus the pro scouts 50 miles to Clarett's session in Youngstown.

"We understand NFL people have a lot of travel to do, to see these prospects at their private workouts," Luchs said."So we'd like to select April 1 to make it as easy as possible for these NFL teams, many of which will be in Akron."

Clarett made several miscalculations at the recent combine and hopes to rectify those at his private workout. He had originally bulked up to impress the scouts that week, but was too heavy, and, after a crash diet, ran disappointing times of 4.82 and then 4.72. After his poor 40 times, he refused to partake in any more workouts, to the dismay of NFL coaches and general managers. He's projected now as a sixth- or seventh-round pick, if he's drafted at all, and that's why his next workout is of dire importance. He is already back in training, with a speed coach, in Southern California.

Clarett had originally mentioned at the combine that he wanted to run at Ohio State, but it clearly would have turned into a circus. In November, Clarett accused Ohio State of academic and financial improprieties, and it has led to the resignation of athletic director Andy Geiger and an ongoing NCAA investigation.

But Clarett has said he made those claims to clear his name with NFL executives, that he would have stayed quiet if head coach Jim Tressel and Geiger had not "bashed" him to the NFL. He has since said he harbors no ill will toward the school and, in a conversation with ESPN The Magazine before the combine, Clarett said he hoped the war of words between him and Ohio State would stop.

"Can we all quit?" he said. "Let's cease. I don't want to be known as a troublemaker anymore. I don't want to be known as an ass. I just want to stop. It hurts so bad. My feelings are being overshadowed by the story. It's to the point I'm not 'me' anymore; I'm a machine. I'm a story. I'm a big ball of controversy. And I want it to quit."

First off, I am really tired of Tom Friend being MoC's personal apologist. Secondly, I am sick and tired of this piece of shit wannabe journalist not being able to do basic research for an article (again). Didn't Geiger retire?!?

Tom Friend of MoC can continue to spin this all he wants but the simple fact is that MoC is still MoC. After impressing scouts early at the combines by answering questions with the correct answers and giving the illusion that he had matured, he showed his true character by quitting after the pathetically slow times. The quitting did as much damage, if not more, to MoC than the 4.82 and 4.72 times.

As far as the paragraph that you highlighted Grad, I think there is only one possible response to that......:tibor:

Prof it is a rare occurance, but I disagree with you....although I already used this response, I believe its validity is undeniable when discussing MoC

Nice to see MoC finally realizes Friend and others are just using him. Perhaps at some point, it will click in MoC's head to keep his mouth shut and thus reduce the bull's-eye on his chest. Doubtful he'll make this connection though. His ego just loves the attention too much.

From an Internet gambling Web site we won’t name, we find oddsmakers and bettors don’t have an optimistic view of Maurice Clarett’s NFL draft prospects.

Co-favorites on where the former Ohio State running back will be drafted, at 3-2, are "not drafted" and "seventh round." For the record, bettors who think he will go in the first round are getting 100-1 odds. It is 30-1 he will go in the second round, 20-1 in the third and 10-1 in the fourth.

Aww, his feelings are hurt. I'm sorry, Baby Reecie, let us give you a big hug, you worthless, steaming pile of horseshit. When I find out that you're washing cars in Youngstown, you can bet your fat ass that I will pile the family in the minivan and drive up there from Atlanta, you miserable fuck. Hey, you missed a spot, bitch.

<!-- esi: /widget/story/videoAndPhotoGallery?contentId=3438498--> University spokesman Steve Snapp denied the running back's assertion that he would be there at "pro day" for scouts on Tuesday. Snapp said Clarett wasn't invited but didn't say why.

Clarett has alienated his former school with his allegations that Ohio State administrators and coaches broke NCAA rules by arranging perks for players.

After last weekend's NFL combine in Indianapolis Clarett said he would participate in the pro day at Ohio State. His times of 4.72 and 4.82 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the combine are considered extremely slow for a running back.

Steve Feldman, Clarett's agent, said Friday morning that Clarett wouldn't fight the school's decision to exclude him from the drills next week.

"Out of respect for Ohio State, we're not going to argue the point," Feldman said.

Instead, Feldman wants to arrange a workout for Clarett in Youngstown around April 1 when pro scouts are in the area to watch quarterback Charlie Frye work out at the University of Akron.

"We're just trying to make it as convenient as possible for as many of the decision-makers as we can to see him," Feldman said. "He had a poor performance at the combine. He's got to make it up."

Clarett has charged that Ohio State coach Jim Tressel set him up with a loaner car and oversaw a football program in which players were provided improper academic help, were paid by boosters and were given high-paying, no-show summer jobs.

Clarett set Ohio State freshman rushing and scoring records in 2002, leading the Buckeyes to their first national championship in 34 years. He was suspended before the next season for lying to NCAA and university investigators and never played another college game.

He then sued the NFL for early admission to the league's draft but, after an early victory in federal court, lost on appeal and in several subsequent appeals.

During an interview before the start of the combine last week, he said, "I love Ohio State. I've been a Buckeye, I'm going to continue to be a Buckeye and continue to support 'em."

Steve Feldman, Clarett's agent, said Friday morning that Clarett wouldn't fight the school's decision to exclude him from the drills next week.

"Out of respect for Ohio State, we're not going to argue the point," Feldman said.
Respect....:slappy:MoC does not know the meaning of the word.
This has to be the first time he hasn't gone down without kicking and screaming like a little bitch... How in the hell would he fight this decision, in the Supreme Court again? I can hear it now on Espin... In further attempts to destroy Maurice Clarret's NFL career tOSU banned him participating in "pro day." Maurice said he still has much love for the school and has no ill will towards the staff for black balling him.
