Game Thread Maryland at tOSU, Sat. Oct. 10th, 4:15 pm ET, BTN

Not nervous at all. Being nervous about a game where I have exactly zero influence makes no sense.

Ohio State has to play better yes. But so does Indiana - Indiana woulda shoulda coulda lost to Nebraska, Ohio State was never really in danger of losing to Maryland....
This was the let down game. You could see it in the body language coming out of the dressing room.

They get paid now but they are still college age kids and as Urban learned many times, you can’t keep them at peak mental intensity every week.

5-6 starters out, let down spot between Iowa and IU. I chalk it up to annoying but understandable in my book.

I do not expect it to continue in a linear fashion going forward.

Ja’Kobi Jackson, John Walker and Jason Moore Are Pro Football Focus’ Highest-Graded Ohio State Players Against Maryland

The Top Three

1. RB Ja'Kobi Jackson (78.4)

For the first time this season, an Ohio State running back earned PFF's top grade. Ja'Kobi Jackson (90.0) has the team's best running grade and the highest running grade in the Big Ten among players with at least 25 carries in 2026.

Over the two seasons we've tracked Ohio State's PFF scores by game, Jackson's 78.4 is the lowest score to earn a Buckeye the top spot after a game. The previous low was 80.3 by Caden Curry and Carson Hinzman against Washington in Game 4 last season.

2. DT John Walker (77.3)

Walker had two tackles against the Terrapins and earned the highest defensive grade against Maryland.

3. DT Jason Moore (75.8)

Moore has the team's highest run-defense grade (85.4) for the season. Like Walker, Moore also recorded two tackles against the Terrapins.

Extra Points

  • For the season, Jaylen McClain has the nation's highest tackling grade (91.3) among secondary players and is second overall.
  • Julian Sayin (52.6) had the lowest offensive grade of his career, but he still leads Big Ten starting quarterbacks with an offensive grade of 90.9 and a passing grade of 90.8 for the season.
  • For the first time this season, Jeremiah Smith (74.3) received an offensive grade below 83. He still leads the nation with offense and receiving grades of 94.5 for the season.
  • Dominick Kelly (80.5) did not qualify for the team's highest grade because he played only five snaps against Maryland.
  • TJ Alford has the team's highest coverage grade (87.1) for the season.
  • James Smith (35.8) had the second-lowest grade among Big Ten DTs this week and was the lowest-graded player on the team. Among players who played at least 10 snaps, Max LeBlanc (44.5) was Ohio State's lowest-rated player against Maryland.
  • Bo Jackson has the team's highest pass-blocking grade for the season (84.2).
