Maryland 24, WEST VIRGINIA 45 (final)

Well, they were relatively close to covering, so I don't feel so bad about my pick.

Looks like they have a nice little team...too bad we won't know until bowl season, considering they play about 7 teams that Mount Union could beat the rest of the way.

I think we could wear them out with our power ground game and their 3-3-5 and they wouldn't have all those insane long plays against our D. I think we could take them. I watched and while Slaton and White's talent was impressive the team is not and can be had.

WVU is lucky it put up all those points in the 1st quarter. After watching them the whole game I do think they can be contained. I feel they are maybe a #12 or so team in the country not #5. Way to many discipline issues.

Nope, their D has no discipline! Louisville will light their D up, without Michael Bush.
That is the problem with running a one-trick offense -- your defense will not be capable of defending a multiple look offense, because it's too difficult for a team without the skill position players to emulate a competent one in practices to assist their own D.

Much like Miami, Fla torched the Blackshirts in the Rose Bowl in 2001, prompting Nebraska to blow up the program, its roots in the option, and start over from scratch, a competent passing offense will hang 50 on WVU.

On a somewhat related note, is anyone not surprised that Malcolm Jenkins and Donald Washington are playing like vets, and the OSU back four has not given up a big pass play yet? Proof that facing the most explosive 'multiple look' offense, two of the best WRs, plus the best pocket passing QB in the country every single day in practice has laid the foundation for a defense that will dominate for the next three years.

I think Antonio Henton and Mo Wells could emulate the WVU offense reliably enough to give our D the prep it needs to shut it down, while WVU would not stand a snowballs chance of emulating our O with their scout team.

After a night of reflection, and seeing WVU in the 2nd half after Maryland was able to adjust, I think WVU is a solid BCS bowl bound team, but not a national title contender. Ohio State, Notre Dame, or USC would demolish the Mountaineers through the air.
