Mark Sanchez (Philadelphia Eagles)

Another issue seems to be his friendship with Bemoll and Williams

I think this is the most consistently overrated factor involved in a recruiting decsion. Buddies certainly talk about what they are doing and share information about schools. They may often generate interest that leads to visits and I am sure Williams is pointing out many of the positives about OSU. It is very easy to say they would all like to go to school together. But when it comes time to pull the lever somebody (most likely Mom and Dad) is going to make sure they are looking at more important considerations than playing FB at the same school as one of their HS chums.

Thanks for the insight, USCemper.

After Mark's visit to Columbus, I was fairly certain that he'd end up choosing OSU. Then, the Texas visit really screwed things up, for both of our schools. If Mark doesn't choose OSU, then I hope that he has the good sense to go to USC. I really can't imagine a worse major football program for a top-flight QB than Texas (in-state rival A+M is also near the top of the "avoid" list). It seems that that word has gotten around the Lone Star State, as evidenced by the defections of Reid, Bomar, Freeman, et al. last year.

I thought that Bemoll would be the harder sell on OSU, given his affinity for the Florida schools. However, he seems to have loved his visit to C-bus, and everyone seems to think that a commitment is now imminent. I won't count that chicken just yet, but I like our chances.... :)

Why are we so interested in the MV3, when USC's fans don't seem to care all that much - hey, we're just more football crazy, for one thing. Also, any fan base gets more geeked up over out-of-state guys, as we assume that the local boys will stay home anyway. Finally, I think that we'd all like to "steal" a couple of big time prospects from USC, after the Fred Davis situation from last year.

21 - do you know anything about rdsbucks, or his relationship to the MV3? Is he a family friend? From what I've read, he seems fairly credible, if a bit optimistic.

RDS is a friend of one of the families as is this poster who supplied the pics

ljb, did you read the last few posts in the Bemoll thread. It would seem that there is a little to be optimistic about!

I get the feel that RDS is another local coach (maybe not football) or teacher or something. But that is just a guess.

This is what he said when he first notified the board about Sanchez and Williams

I have a good friend who has a family member that is a teammate of Mark Sanchez the great QB at Mission Viejo in California
Made me skeptical at first but its obvious he has some connections and has been dead on with his info.

Greg - I saw the Bemoll news. If it is true that he cancelled his LSU visit (and to be honest, I expected him to after his visit to Columbus), then that decision, coming immediately after his excellent visit to Columbus would strongly suggest that OSU is his choice.

Now.... even if Bemoll would commit, Sanchez is another matter. I think that a Bemoll commitment would be one more factor in Sanchez's decision, but just one of many factors. Playing time, coaching staff, offensive scheme, competition, maybe even distance from home will also play a role (and about a dozen other factors that we don't even know about - each kid has different likes and dislikes, and weighs each factor differently).

Offensive scheme will likely play a larger role in Sanchez's decision. Remember, Williams is a DE, and an OL like Bemoll doesn't really care as much about the offensive scheme; in fact, a lot of OL would rather run the ball about 80 times a game; pass blocking isn't easy, and your mistakes are much more obvious; it's so much more fun just to fire off of the line a blast someone across from you.

In any event, good news, lots of it, which may lead to great new in the near future - let's hope!

Ive never heard of you USCemper

just kidding...all good points

However, since all this is really conjecture by uninformed college football fans anways, why not further fan the flames--fact of the matter is that MS has already decided where he is going to commit--just a matter of making things public...I know for a fact that 1 of 3 coaching staffs "in the running" has already been informed of his decision

You're right, LJB, but your're missing one thing. While the idea of joining his buddies may not be that big of a factor, a Bemoll committment would still be huge. He would immediately shift from being a recruit to being a recruiter. This is a huge factor in OSU's favor. I don't think any of Sanchez's peers are recruiting for Texas, and I gotta think that any kids at his school that are hoping for him to go to SC would not have as much pull as Bemoll and Williams, as those two are actually going through the same stuff as him. Then again, I'm probably reading too much into this.

You already insinuated on BN that Mack Brown knows...strange you decide to register on both sites recently with such pertinent information. Sorry to be skeptical and I will apologize if wrong, but this seems like simple pot stirring to me.

Contrary to popular belief <HR SIZE=1>(or eternal optimism as may be the case) Sanchez has already decided. It's just a matter of making it public.

I can absolutely 100% guarantee that Mack Brown and Co. already know what the decision is...as for JT and PC, i leave that to the "real insiders" on these boards

Recruiting season is great ain't it? congrats on Kb...

FIGHT ON!!! </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><!-- / message -->

JLB (gee, this is confusing - LJB responding to JLB) -

You're right about Bemoll becoming a recruiter, especially if the Bucknuts "don't commit until we talk" story is accurate (and it seems reasonable to assume that it is).

Also, Mark might want to consider that, with Boone, Cordle, and Bemoll, OSU would have commitments from 3 of the top O-linemen in the country (two of whom are legit OT prospects, a QB's best friends). Just another piece in the puzzle....
