Interested in hearing Woof's breakdown on Urban...

Couple of quick thoughts and then off to watch Monday night football.

1. Despite his national championship (s?) I'm more impressed with what he did at Utah than what he's done at Florida. It's damn easy to recruit the best talent in the country when you have world class weather, Top 10 national facilities, co-eds with more curves than Rachel Ray on the Autobahn and having your school is located in one of the best football states in the country. It's a little more tricky in Salt Lake.

2. His teams are fairly disciplined. When I say his, of course I mean the offensive units. I wouldn't hire him to coach a Pop Warner defense.

3. What can I say about his recruiting tactics that hasn't been said 10,000,000 other places on the net? He approaches commitments with the same tenacity he approaches practice and titles. Sometimes he wins and when he doesn't he goes down swinging and kids get hurt.

4. He seems like the type of guy at the bar who talks mountains of [censored] and then when challenged, leaves and lets his buddies do his fighting for him.

5. He really doesn't seem to give a rats ass about the success of his players on the NFL level. He'll march em' back in for "rah-rah" sessions and for recruits - but he's not one of the guys who'll you hear current NFL'ers reaching out to for advice or mentoring. A "use-em and move on" mentality.

6. Had a pretty weak mustache in the day - man the [censored] up Urb
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiR-amuhQfg]YouTube - The Urbstache With Its Proper Soundtrack[/ame]

All in all - I don't hate Meyer, it's just fun as [censored] to beat him. He takes it personal, gets naked and hits himself with that little metal whip like you saw in "DaVinci Code" - the more times it happens the better.

The huge Bowling Green and Utah NFL contingent was polled for this? :p

Without trying to hijack the thread too much since we are in the recruiting forum, I'll briefly mention that I do not recall any time JT ordered his entire team to get an excessive celebration penalty on the first TD of a game. Nor can I ever picture him doing that in the future. Not in the same category.

My apologies--back to Marlon.

Don't let the facts get in the way of your argument.

However, Richt did intend to get a celebration penalty on that play.

If JT had done the same against scUM, I wonder what people on here would think.
Heck, Woody was telling his players to follow him over to the MSU lockerroom to kick some Spartan butt after we got hosed in '74. I certainly don't think that makes him a bad person - it just makes him Woody. A GREAT man who had flaws and made mistakes (e.g. Gator Bowl incident).

Personally, right after Tressel, Richt is the guy I would want my kid to play for.

Which part of his post was inaccurate? Exactly. Don't let reading comprehension get in the way of your man crush on Richt.

I'd love for the Buckeyes to celebrate as a team like that against TSUN, but I'd be seriously disappointed in JT, as it would go against everything I thought he was. I don't think I'd ever hold him in the same regard again. You say that wanting to kick some sparty ass was just "Woody being Woody", and I agree. If Richt were the person he's being made out to be, I seriously doubt that would've occurred.

Wow, alot of venom for a guy that the worst thing he has done was piss off Gator fans by rubbing it in their face for once.

He's no JT, but who the hell is ? He appears to be a good guy in a league full of dirtbags.

I'm lukewarm on Richt....things didn't end so well for him in Tally, as he supposedly focused on getting the Georgia job way more than focusing on the National Championship against Oklahoma. I don't think people had a problem with him pursuing the Georgia position and making all of the circles, as much as him telling everyone his focus was on the game and he'd make sure FSU was well prepared....not so much.

The other thing that gets under my skin a bit, is his open devotion to religion and Christianity, and then watching him chew out officials with f-bombs and cursing. That dude gets heated on the sideline. Cursing doesn't bother me at all, as I'm not very religious, but I guess it does if said person is supposed to be religion first and he flaunts it but then displays otherwise on the sideline. Well Coach K bothers me a bit too, but mostly b/c he bullies officials into calls but thats another story....

I don't think I've ever seen Tressel curse on the sideline, and I'd be pretty surprised if I saw it.

I think the general point here is that if this celebration is the worst thing you can come up with, then your well is pretty dry.
