Mark Richt (ex- UGA & Miami Fla Head Coach)

This whole quote is fairly ridiculous in that context, mu, but perhaps that was intentional.

The funny part is you seemed to rail against overreaction over swearing and turned around and added a whole new level of hyperbole.
I'm not claiming to be a Mark Richt expert, but I haven't seen any books published about his views on religion, so I doubt it's the biggest part of his life. Again, I could very well be wrong, but did I miss the part where he led a Crusade?

I have no idea what you're saying, but you were correct in assuming I hadn't seen the online article. My point was that the article that you posted did not address the points of my discussion with billmac. The article proved that Richt claims to be a Christian, and not much else. Like any Christian, he aims to spread his faith as he sees fit. billmac was saying he didn't like Richt because he pimped his religion but then swore on the football field. Richt doesn't claim that he is a shining example of a Christian, he just says that he is a Christian. I'm sure he doesn't condone his language on the field, but you could probably count the number of coaches that don't swear on one hand. My point is that swearing is generally a part of football, and I don't think that makes him a bad guy.

"If I wasn't a good Christian I'd tell y'all to go out there and kick his (Spurrier's) ass!!" - Coach Bobby Bowden to team before record 52-20 1997 Sugar Bowl loss to eventual National Champion University of Florida.

Good find by financesec on Scout:

As some of you may have heard, the Valdosta Wildcats experienced a tragedy in the past few weeks. A senior football player, James Eunice, went missing, and drowned a couple weeks ago while duck hunting with a friend. After a 2 week search, his body was finally found and the funeral was held today. James was already accepted to UGA and was looking to walk-on to the football team after talking with Coach Richt during a Rome/Mitchell recruiting trip down here. He was never the most athletic player but had the most heart of any player on the field. He was a fine Christian young man, made straight A?s, and was very popular in school. Well at the funeral today the preacher called Jay Rome and Malcolm Mitchell up to the stage with a box in their hands. In the box was a letter that CMR wrote to the family. The end of the note said, "Oh yeah, James made the team." The two pulled out an official player jersey with his #23 and name on the back.

Coach Richt and the UGA staff will be speaking at our annual summer coaches clinic. Looking forward to that one because a HC is actually talking about specific Xs and Os instead of general program overview

Richt has PA Passing
Bobo is talking the quick game
Lilly is talking TE tech and drills

 :shake:

Dawgs self report multiple secondary violations to the SEC/NCAA.
http://blogs.ajc.com/uga-sports-blo...fts-from-richt/?cxntfid=blogs_uga_sports_blog

Most notable:

DC Todd Grantham arrived at the High School of a recruit during dead period. When looking for the football coaches office, he was guided there by the actual young man he was recruiting. Inpermissable contact.

RB recruit has a 5 year old brother and UGA fed him during a recruiting visit. Later on the family reimbursed UGA the 21 bucks for the meals, but still considered improper benefits.

Finally, apparently CMR has been paying his staff under the table. Last year he approached the AD/Board of Regents and asked for raises for his entire staff. They were rejected so Richt has been paying them monthly out of his own pocket. That's a violation and an embarassing one. Bad news for a coach I want extended till 2017.

In December 2009, due to “difficult economic conditions being experienced by the University,” the athletic department decided to not provide “bowl bonuses” to non-coach staff members. Richt went to senior associate AD Frank Crumley and asked him to provide a chart of who would have normally received bonuses and in what amount. Crumley provided that list and Richt paid 10 people – sports medicine director Ron Courson, video coordinator Joe Tereshinski, strength and conditioning coaches Keith Gray and Clay Walker, football operations manager Josh Brooks, high school relations director Ray Lamb and four administrative assistants — $15,227 out of his own pocket.

Richt also paid the $15,337.50 five-year longevity bonus to former assistant Dave Johnson when Johnson left Georgia in 2008 just short of his fifth anniversary and the administration refused to pay. Richt paid $6,000 to Jon Fabris in December of 2010 when Fabris was unable to find a job after his UGA severance package expired.

In each case, the payments were not considered against NCAA rules because they were done with the knowledge of the athletic administration, according to the report.
