Mark Pantoni (Assistant Athletic Director, Player Personnel)

Mark is the day-to-day ops guy for recruiting. He is the brains behind Friday Night Lights. He is also the man most HS coaches will deal with and also the guy who will 'load the board' with prospects. Mark will be the guy who knows about the 14-year old kid in BFE who is running a 4.4...

He is as intense about recruiting as Coach Meyer.
Did we have this position on our team under JT?

For those interested in the Friday Night Lights program:
Friday Night Lights - YouTube

I was there in 2009 with players...Joyner, Bellamy, Sticks McCarthy, Jeff Luc, etc.

Stage one: Football Complex...height, weight, contact info, etc. Meyer and staff were all over the room.

Stage two: Weightroom...stretch and X. Then explosion mini-workout.

Stage three: Game Field. Music jamming over speakers. 40s. Matchup 40s. Position groups then 1v1s (WRs/DBs, RBs-TEs/LBs), OL/DL 1v1 was full contact if I remember correctly but everyone else was just helmets. Ohio HS rules will not allow full gear like Florida did though.

No rah-rah pat on the butt coaching...it was full-bore, WAO competition. Position coaches egged it on talking smack to one another.

VERY impressive. VERY intense.

EDIT: After checking pictures, OL/DL was only group in any gear--21

Please move this thread if inappropriate but exactly what is Friday Night Lights:huh: and would it require approval from the Ohio School Athletic Association if there is currently not a similar program in the State of Ohio.

It is a one-night camp. So no, it would be fine as long as it is tweaked to Ohio HS rules.

Didn't Coach Tressel have a person in a similar role? Is he just being cut loose? Our recruiting prior to Panoni was almost as good as Florida's, if not better.
