Mark McGwire (official thread)

I actually thought his statement was really good. I think he all but admitted that he's guilty by his demeanor and not denying the allegations. With immunity, I think he will admit to it. He has a heart for kids and I believe he was very genuine in what he said.

Once you've screwed up you can't take it back, you just have to try to try and do the best you can from that point forward. I believe he will.

Yeah, I'm sure it has to do with the kids. :roll1:

Or maybe this piece of worthless garbage is just trying to salvage his HOF credentials. Watching him almost cry on the stands was hilarious. The POS deserves all the misery he has coming to him.

I don't think he should be in the hall of fame. Obviously the best thing that he could do to help his cause is to admit it and apologize. I'd be more upset with him if he denies it or pleads the fifth.

I can deal with people that screw up because I've had a tendency to do so on a lot of levels. He just needs to tell the truth and accept the consequences. I hate liars.

I would say the players that admit to it be banned from the hall and have their records stripped. The ones that don't should be investigated and put in jail, be banned from the hall and have their records stripped if they are guilty.

Most baseball players would - as long as they already had the kids they wanted before the steroids made their balls shrink up.

It's been illegal (federal law) since 1991 to use anabolic steroids without a doctor's prescription in this country. So they should get no pass by saying that they weren't banned by baseball.

Why is he a POS? Just because he used an illegal substance? Then I guess all the pot smokers and 20-year-olds who drink in this country are all pieces of shit, too.

Illegal substances to have fun = ok

Illegal substance to cheat in an athletic competition = POS

So, your stance is:

Illegal substances which are a potential hazard to others (DUI, etc.,) to have fun = ok

Illegal substance which puts absolutely no one else at risk except for the user, to cheat in an athletic competition = POS

While I think that McGwire should suffer some consequences because of his actions, including possibly not being inducted into the HOF, I wouldn't consider him a POS. Folks that use illegal substances which keep drug dealers in business are the true POS.

Tibor shut the hell up!

Who gives a flying fuck if they used steriods? Does it have a direct affect on your life or anyone elses? Hell no! I don't know why the fuck congress has to get involved. Let's look at their private lives and dig up the dirt which may be hiding some skeleton's. I think that any member of congress would have MUCH more of an effect on our lives than a MLB player taking steroids. Hell, don't they make the laws we're supposed to follow? They should just stay out of it. Anyone that has played competitive sports at a high level know these guys just didn't become the Hulks that they are over their entire careers, it happend within a year or just a few. I mean just look at them when they came in as rookies and look at them now. It's way to obvious, but I didn't give two shits! It's their life and they have to deal with it not me. Save your breath and forget about it. Congress has better things to do than make a bogus ruling on this bullshit! Do something productive instead!

I can understand why steroids have been made illegal...the higher end steroids really fuck you up in the long run. However, there's now a stigma attached to steroids putting them in the same class as hard-core drugs (heroin, cocaine, methamphetamines, etc,). I don't think people who use steroids are criminals...just stupid.

Wasn't Tibor the same guy that mentioned throwing the book at guys who have Dui's?

Sounds like he's talking out of both sides of his mouth to me.

I'll have to try and find that one.
