That's why they have mechanics shops...so you don't have to work under your thousands of pounds of car held up only by a jack and a cement block. :(

Eh, maybe he loved working on his truck. If so, at least he went out doing something he loved.

    2003 Darwin Award: Jack Up

(9 April 2003, New Zealand) Phil needed to make repairs to the underside of his car. But when he jacked it up, there wasn't enough room for him to work. So he removed the car's battery, placed the jack on top of it, and set to work again, this time with plenty of elbow-room.
Unfortunately for Phil, car batteries are not designed to carry much weight. The battery collapsed and the jack toppled, trapping him beneath the car. Unable to breathe due to the weight on his chest, he quickly expired in a pool of battery acid.

That guy's obviously a fucking idiot. Everyone knows you're supposed to use a jack and a cinder block.

Mark was easily the "coolest" player I ever saw on a Major League diamond. In 1976, this kid had one of the best seasons ever for a pitcher. At times, he was downright unbeatable, and shined on the big stage on National TV games.

Condolences to Mark's family and loved one's. Take solace in the fact that Mark brought so much enjoyment to the game, and made those that ever saw him pitch enjoy the game that much more.

RIP "Bird." Major League Baseball is poorer today, without you here.

    Peace.
